Cetus Protocol Relaunches After Recovering From #DeFi Exploit

$SUI and Aptos-based DEX Cetus Protocol restarted operations on Sunday, 17 days after suffering a $223 million hack.

The protocol recovered approximately $162 million worth of funds through validator intervention on the Sui network.

Affected liquidity pools were restored to 85-99% of their original value using recovered funds, $7 million cash reserves, and a $30 million $USDC loan from Sui Foundation.

The May 22 exploit targeted an integer overflow flaw in shared math library contracts.

Remaining compensation will be distributed as $CETUS tokens over 12 months following the linear unlock schedule.

The attacker ignored whitehat negotiation attempts and began laundering stolen assets through Tornado Cash.

SlowMist analysis revealed that the hacker prepared the attack two days prior and attempted an earlier failed version.

$CETUS token has fallen 44% since the May #exploit occurred.
