XRP Settlement Hits Roadblock as Judge Rejects SEC-Ripple Motion

U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres denied the $XRP-SEC settlement motion due to procedural errors, not substantive rejection.

The joint filing sought to dissolve an injunction and release $125 million in escrow, with Ripple paying the SEC $50 million.

Judge Torres ruled that the parties improperly framed their request as "settlement approval" instead of seeking relief under Rule 60, which requires showing exceptional circumstances.

Ripple's chief legal officer confirmed, "This is about procedural concerns with the dismissal of Ripple’s cross-appeal. Ripple and the SEC are fully in agreement to resolve this case."

Crypto attorney Fred Rispoli explained the parties must now file a detailed Rule 60 motion, with resolution expected within a month of this #legalsetback.
