#SEC Signals Major Shift on Blockchain Securities Regulation
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is exploring rule changes to exempt companies issuing tokenized securities from certain registration requirements.
Commissioner Hester Peirce revealed the regulator is "considering a potential exemptive order" for firms using #blockchain technology.
Under proposed changes, decentralized exchanges may no longer need to register "as a broker-dealer, clearing agency, or an exchange."
Companies would still need to comply with anti-fraud rules while meeting specific disclosure requirements.
This represents a dramatic policy shift since President #Trump took office, contrasting with the previous administration's approach.
The SEC has already narrowed its #cryptocurrency jurisdiction in recent months.
