LLJEFFY Token Surges 2,115% on Zerebro Founder Death Rumors Before Crashing
A
$SOL token called $LLJEFFY surged 2,115% to a $105 million market cap after rumors spread that Zerebro founder Jeffy Yu died by suicide.
The spectacular #memecoin pump was triggered by a now-deleted video, an obituary in the San Francisco Chronicle, and a supposed posthumous blog post promoting "Legacoin" as Yu's "final art piece."
Local coroners confirmed to Decrypt that nobody with Yu's surname had recently died in the area, and the obituary was removed for lack of death verification.
$LLJEFFY crashed 86.8% when investors discovered the deployer wallet was still actively buying tokens despite the founder supposedly being deceased.
This incident follows several controversial token launches involving fake deaths or self-harm, including last year's case where "Crack Head Dev" faked his death after smoking too much fentanyl.
