Ethereum (ETH), the biggest altcoin, witnessed heavy selling pressure during the last phase of 2023 waiting for a pullback. ETH finally recorded a breakout and surged by 5% in the last 7 days. However, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin in a post talked about the intersection of cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence (AI).&nbsp; Ethereum and AI 
Vitalik Buterin acknowledged that while there has been interest in the potential connections between <a href="https://news.todayq.com/cryptojacking-a-trending-scam-threats-prevention-recent-cases/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">crypto and AI</a>. However, the practical applications have been limited until recently. AI saw a major surge in its user base.
Buterin identifies four major categories that highlight combining crypto and AI. He wrote that AI is a Player in a Game. This involves AIs participating in mechanisms where incentives come from a protocol with human inputs.
He highlighted that this technology works as an Interface to the Game. It can assist users in understanding the crypto world. It is expected to ensure that their behavior aligns with their intentions and protects them from scams. However, this category comes with risks related to security and privacy.
The third category involves blockchains, DAOs, or similar mechanisms directly calling into AIs. He mentioned that this section requires caution due to the complexity of integrating AI systems into decentralized decision-making processes.
Ethereum founder highlighted the challenges in applying AI within the crypto space. He pointed out the tension between the open-source nature of cryptography for security. However, there is a vulnerability of open AI models to adversarial attacks. What’s next? 
It is important to note the post highlights the growing role of AIs in prediction markets. This technology with their ability to work efficiently and integrate real-time information can address challenges faced by traditional prediction markets. Such as thin markets and limited human participation.
Buterin underscores the importance of careful consideration, particularly in terms of security, transparency, and ethical implications. However, ETH performance over the past year has been much lower than expected. ETH saw a major drop while its competitor Solana’s price surged by around 600% last year.
ETH made a comeback this year by surging by 5% in the last 7 days. Ethereum is trading at an average price of $2,306, at the press time. Its 24 hour trading volume is up by 43% to stand at $9.6 billion.
Its competitor Solana has gained over 30% in the last 7 days, SOL is trading at an average price of $104.4, at the press time.
