Samsung, a global technology leader, announced a strategic partnership with Galeon, a decentralized science (DeSci) protocol specializing in healthcare AI. The collaboration involves integrating Samsung’s ultrasound machines with Galeon’s electronic health record (EHR) platform to supply anonymized data for AI training. Galeon’s EHR network is already operational in 18 hospitals across France, including Rouen University Hospital and Caen University Hospital.

The core objective is to advance AI-driven diagnostics by enriching medical data availability while adopting a privacy-first approach. Importantly, the patient data remains offchain and anonymized; only the AI algorithms run onchain with full traceability. This method preserves hospital control over sensitive data while enabling collaborative AI model training, fostering innovation without compromising privacy.

This partnership exemplifies the growing trend of applying Web3 and decentralized science innovations in healthcare. By leveraging blockchain and decentralized architectures, Galeon’s platform empowers institutions to share AI development benefits without the risks inherent in centralized data pools. This approach aligns with patient sovereignty and regulatory compliance, addressing longstanding challenges in health data interoperability and privacy.
The collaboration also reflects broader industry momentum, as Samsung expands its health technology ecosystem with AI and IoT devices. Integrated solutions like Samsung’s BioActive Sensor and SmartThings connectivity complement decentralized AI frameworks, supporting remote monitoring, chronic disease prevention, and seamless healthcare delivery.
Meanwhile, Bio Protocol, a decentralized science (DeSci) platform, recently secured $6.9 million in a successful funding round. This capital infusion, with contributions from prominent investors such as Animoca Brands and Arthur Hayes’ Maelstrom Fund, highlights the increasing focus on utilizing blockchain technology to expedite drug discovery.
Bio Protocol aims to address shortcomings in traditional academic science by implementing tokenized incentives and recording all research stages on-chain, thereby promoting transparency and accountability among contributors.
