Core Lightning has urged node operators to install v26.06.10, a maintenance release from the ElementsProject/lightning repository that addresses issues in two areas: channel security and remote access. Operators running earlier versions are advised to upgrade promptly.

The release is published under the ElementsProject organization on GitHub at github.com/ElementsProject/lightning, where the full changelog and release assets are available. The version tag v26.06.10 follows the project's date-based versioning convention.
What Core Lightning said about the update

The upgrade notice identifies two distinct categories of fixes. Channel-security fixes address how the node handles Lightning channel state, while remote-access fixes concern how operators or services connect to a running node. The release is available as a tagged version in the official repository, with downloadable assets listed alongside the release notes.
This kind of targeted patch release is comparable to other protocol-level security updates seen across the Bitcoin ecosystem. For context, XRP Ledger previously issued a fix for a critical bug that could have enabled unauthorized token creation, underscoring how routine security patching remains essential across blockchain infrastructure projects.
Channel-security and remote-access considerations for operators

Channel security in a Lightning node governs the integrity of payment channels: how commitments are signed, stored, and enforced on-chain if a counterparty misbehaves. Operators who delay patching known channel-security issues expose their nodes to potential fund risk, depending on the nature of the underlying bug.
Remote-access fixes, separately, pertain to how the node's API or daemon interface can be reached. Misconfigured or vulnerable remote access paths are a common attack surface for Lightning node operators, particularly those running nodes on exposed infrastructure.

The release notes linked from the v26.06.10 GitHub tag are the authoritative reference for the specific mechanics of each fix. Operators should consult those notes directly rather than relying on third-party summaries for environment-specific guidance.

Confirm the running version and review deployment-specific access settings

After upgrading, operators should verify the installed version matches v26.06.10 exactly, then review any remote-access configurations, such as exposed RPC endpoints or REST interfaces, to confirm settings align with current security recommendations. Deployment-specific steps will vary based on how the node is hosted and what access controls are already in place.

Operators who have not yet reviewed official release documentation for v26.06.10 should do so before resuming normal channel activity. The ElementsProject repository remains the single authoritative source for release binaries and patch details.
