Argus differs from&nbsp;<a style="text-decoration:none" href="https://bsc.news/post/what-is-pump-fun" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pumpfun</a> style launchpads in three main ways: it has no separate bonding curve contract, no migration step, and taxes that each creator fixes at launch. Every token launches straight into a Uniswap v4 pool on Arc, Circle’s&nbsp;<a style="text-decoration:none" href="https://bsc.news/post/layer-1-blockchains-ultimate-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Layer 1 blockchain</a>. The design changes how tokens are priced and who gets paid, but early data shows it has not fixed weak demand for new tokens.
<h2 id="span-span-how-does-pumpfun-launch-a-token-span-span">How Does Pumpfun Launch a Token?</h2>
A bonding curve is a formula that sets a token’s price as people buy. A SOL-paired Pumpfun coin opens with 30 virtual SOL against 1.073 billion virtual tokens. Virtual means the amounts exist only in the math.
The curve offers 793.1 million tokens, or 79.31% of supply. Selling them takes 85.0054 SOL and lifts the coin to a 410.88 SOL market cap, about $38,000 with SOL near $92. The coin then graduates, and its liquidity moves to PumpSwap, Pumpfun’s own exchange.
<h2 id="span-span-how-does-argus-launch-a-token-span-span">How Does Argus Launch a Token?</h2>
Argus’ Portal 8 contracts, live since Sept. 22, handle every new launch and keep each token in one market.
<h3 id="span-span-one-pool-from-the-first-trade-span-span">One Pool From The First Trade</h3>
The whole supply enters a Uniswap v4 pool in the launch transaction. Buys walk the price up through one liquidity position, with no curve contract or virtual reserves.
A USDC-paired launch starts at a $2,500 fully diluted value, meaning the entire supply priced at the current rate. At $45,000, it is marked as bonded. This label is only a flag on the hook, the custom code attached to the pool. Trading stays in the same pool, and liquidity sits in a locker with no withdrawal path.
<h3 id="span-span-fees-set-at-launch-span-span">Fees Set At Launch</h3>
Pumpfun publishes one schedule for standard coins. Argus creators set their own tax:
<ul>
 <li>Pumpfun: Curve trades cost 1.25%, with 0.30% to the creator and 0.95% to the protocol. Since Oct. 17, its apps add 0.45%, or 0.40% with a referral code.</li>
 <li>Argus: Each side pays a 1% to 10% tax plus a 1% base fee, or 2% to 11% in total. The tax is fixed forever.</li>
</ul>
In Argus’s example, a 1,000 USDC buy with a 5% tax pays 60 USDC. The treasury takes 30%, or 18 USDC. The other 42 USDC follows the creator’s split across creator funds, buyback and burn, holder dividends and liquidity. Argus says 80% of its revenue buys ARGUS. Pumpfun bought back and burned $5.02 million of PUMP in the week to Nov. 3.
<h3 id="span-span-dividends-are-optional-span-span">Dividends Are Optional</h3>
Dividends are credited on each trade by wallet balance, but any lane can be set to 0%. They are not unique to Argus: Pumpfun coins launched with Holder Rewards send the creator fee to holders instead.
<h3 id="span-span-how-does-argus-handle-snipers-span-span">How Does Argus Handle Snipers?</h3>
Snipers are bots that buy in a token’s first moments. Argus adds a surcharge for three seconds. Trades in the launch second pay 99% in total, then the extra charge falls to 6.18% and 0.19%.
The creator’s opening buy is required, tax-free and placed before anyone else can trade. Creators can also allowlist up to 25 wallets that skip the surcharge.
<h2 id="span-span-has-the-design-improved-outcomes-span-span">Has The Design Improved Outcomes?</h2>
Early data is not directly comparable, but suggests mechanics alone do not create demand:
<ul>
 <li>Pumpfun: Bitquery tracked 8,984,141 tokens through Oct. 7. It found 79% traded only on launch day, and one in 58 launches graduated.</li>
 <li>Argus: Bitquery counted 179,567 launches in Arc’s first month, then about 100 per day by mid-October. Just 65 wallets made over half of them.</li>
 <li>Creator selling: Argus creators took at least $10.95 million, before costs, across 24,465 tokens, mostly within the first hour.</li>
</ul>
Bitquery’s Gaurav Agarwal concluded that Arc launchpads had stopped producing tokens people want. Crypto News writer Rony Roy warned that graduation does not prove a liquid market, since a third of September’s Pumpfun graduations took three trades or fewer.
NullTX editor Will Izuchukwu noted on Oct. 12 that Argus’s reported $5.5 million in USDC payouts equals about 1.2% of its reported $455 million swap volume. He warned that payouts shrink if volume cools. DefiLlama data cited by BSCN earlier showed $1.89 million in Argus fees over 30 days to Oct. 21, against about $4.55 million in September.
<h2 id="span-span-conclusion-span-span">Conclusion</h2>
Argus launches tokens directly into a Uniswap v4 pool with locked liquidity, fixed taxes and a four-part fee split. Pumpfun prices coins on a virtual curve, then moves graduates to PumpSwap. Argus gives creators more control and traders more settings to check.
