The November 3 announcement builds on Bullish’s existing Solana work, with capabilities on Aptos and Ethereum planned next. The company is offering issuers more choice over where their tokenized shares can exist.

For shareholders, the consequential detail sits behind the network names: who recognizes ownership, which transfers are permitted and how a tokenized position can return to conventional stock trading. Bullish’s documents show that those functions continue to depend on the issuer, transfer agent and supported market infrastructure.

The 61 million-share transfer had an acquisition purpose

Bullish says it demonstrated a transfer of 61 million tokenized reserved BLSH shares on Solana at an October 27 event hosted at the New York Stock Exchange. Equiniti administered the transfer, which the company says completed in seconds.

Those shares were earmarked for the pending acquisition of Equiniti. The final amount issued at closing will be determined under the merger agreement, and the transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.

The figure describes the scale of an acquisition-related demonstration. It does not establish that investors bought or sold 61 million shares, or that the tokens traded on the NYSE. The event’s location and the market on which a security can trade are separate facts.

The shareholder register still decides ownership

A transfer agent maintains the records used to recognize shareholders and administer their holdings. In Equiniti’s description of its tokenization role, the shareholder register remains the legal ownership record, while blockchain supports representation and automation.

Bullish’s tokenized-share risk disclosure makes the consequence explicit: if blockchain records and its register of members conflict, the register prevails.

The company describes tokenized BLSH as the same class of ordinary shares, intended to carry the same economic and voting rights. Its disclosure also acknowledges that exercising those rights in tokenized form can involve legal and practical difficulties across jurisdictions.

For a holder expecting a dividend, a vote or recognition after a disputed transfer, the important connection is between the wallet and that authoritative register. Adding another blockchain does not remove the need to keep those records aligned.

Issuer sponsorship and third-party tokenization take different routes

Bullish’s approach starts with the company whose shares are being tokenized. Another route appears in the proposed OKXICE venue, the joint venture involving OKX and NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange.

Its October 26 public notice describes tokens issued by an unaffiliated tokenizer as security entitlements backed one-for-one by shares held through an SEC-registered broker-dealer. Blockchain entitlement records would be reconciled with the tokenizer’s books. That notice already listed objections from companies including Microsoft and Alphabet.

OKXICE’s proposal also permits issuer-sponsored tokens. The comparison concerns the ownership arrangements it could accommodate, rather than two mutually exclusive types of venue.

The SEC’s September tokenized-venue exemption requires verification that eligible tokens provide the same rights as conventional shares of the equivalent class, including dividends and voting rights. It also lets issuers object to unaffiliated third-party tokenization on a notified venue within the specified notice period.

That makes issuer involvement and rights administration central to the comparison. A security entitlement can carry shareholder benefits through an intermediary, as Coindoo’s examination of security entitlements and direct registration explains. The investor needs to understand who is responsible for delivering them.

An approved wallet still has a defined exit route

Bullish’s current BLSH shareholder guide describes a specific process: register shares with Equiniti, complete identity checks, then withdraw tokens to an approved Solana wallet or an eligible Bullish Exchange account. Self-custodied tokens can move between Equiniti-whitelisted registered shareholders.

The guide distinguishes withdrawal from a change in ownership. Moving tokens to the holder’s wallet does not itself debit the registered shares unless ownership is transferred. Its FAQ also says DEX trading is not yet enabled.

Returning to conventional trading requires another step. Bullish’s risk disclosure says holders must reclaim traditional ordinary shares to trade them on the NYSE. A token in a wallet therefore comes with a conversion process that matters when the holder wants access to that market’s buyers and sellers.

The company’s tokenization product page identifies traditional/onchain interoperability as work in development, API conversion as coming soon and wider partner distribution as forthcoming. Approved-partner DeFi and collateral uses are also described as being developed.

Those distinctions limit what can be inferred from the three-network announcement. It does not establish that a BLSH token can already move between Solana, Aptos and Ethereum, enter any decentralized application or be accepted by another trading venue.

They also explain why regulators’ focus on tokenized-market infrastructure extends beyond the blockchain itself. Ownership records, custody, transfer controls and conversion arrangements must work together.

Bullish’s next measurable steps are additional issuers, supported transfer routes and functioning conversions between tokenized and conventional holdings. Those developments will show how much practical access the new network choices give shareholders.
