Fabiano, who posts as @FabianoSolana on X, has proposed directing 50% of PumpSwap protocol fees into memecoin buybacks and burns, asking whether returning money to established communities could help their tokens last longer. His November 2 post challenges Pumpfun's emphasis on paid token promotion and Callout Rewards.

The suggestion is a proposal for changing incentives, rather than an announced Pumpfun feature. Fabiano argues that supporting existing communities deserves more attention than paying influential accounts to surface the next launch.

What if you redirected 50% of PumpSwap protocol fees into buybacks & burns?
— fabiano.sol (@FabianoSolana) November 2, 2026

Which tokens would receive the money?

In a follow-up visible in the discussion, Fabiano agreed that buybacks should unlock only after a token reaches thresholds such as holder count or market capitalization. He did not set numerical thresholds or explain how purchases would be divided among eligible coins.

Those choices would determine who benefits. A program could buy each token using the fees its own trading generates, or pool revenue and distribute it across qualifying communities. The post leaves that distinction open, along with purchase timing and safeguards against artificial trading.

Pumpfun already buys back a different token

There is an important distinction between Fabiano's suggestion and the existing program described on Pumpfun's native-token page. That page states a 50% revenue allocation target for buying and burning $PUMP, the platform token. Buying $PUMP is different from buying the individual memecoins launched through the platform.

Fabiano's post does not specify whether community buybacks would replace part of that allocation or use another budget. The two percentages cannot simply be added together as an announced spending plan.

The official fee schedule also separates protocol fees from creator fees and liquidity-provider fees. Redirecting a share of protocol fees would therefore not mean redirecting half of every fee a trader pays.

A buyback program would add purchases to eligible markets, but whether it extends a token's life would still depend on selling, liquidity and continued activity. Fabiano's concrete question is who should receive the value generated by that activity: promotional intermediaries, the platform token, or the communities producing the trades.
