As of November 3, 2026, <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/near-protocol-news-near-business-launch-today-lifts-price" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Near Protocol News</a> centres on a governance result.&nbsp;
House of Stake voted to lower NEAR’s maximum annual issuance, according toNEAR Protocol’s <a href="https://x.com/NEARProtocol/status/2117338455189385533" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">post on X</a>. The NEAR cut 2.5% to 1.6% phases in over 24 months.<img alt="Near protocol official tweet" src="https://d3iuzwoiyg9qa8.cloudfront.net/webadmin/storage/public/commonEditerImage/5tLeF9FwVGAWuA2ObThtXXhlJwMHQ9rEIcbm0LX8.png" width="300" height="1068" title="Near protocol official tweet">

This NEAR governance vote result leads NEAR news today and <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-news-nov-3-bitcoin-ethereum-price-fear-index-us-midterms" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Crypto news today</a>, though the change is not binding yet.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-why-is-near-cutting-token-issuance-span-span">Why Is NEAR Cutting Token Issuance?</h2>
The<a href="https://houseofstake.org/proposals/29" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">House of Stake proposal</a>, HSP-029, says the network’s bootstrapping phase is largely complete. At 2.5%, NEAR issues about 89,517 tokens daily. At the target, that falls to 57,291.
The plan keeps the 90/10 split between stakers and the treasury, so NEAR token shrinks without any new spending program.&nbsp;
The forum adds that 57.3% of supply is not staked, so those holders gain from slower dilution with no offset.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-is-house-of-stake-near-span-span">What Is House of Stake NEAR?</h2>
House of Stake governance lets token holders vote on core parameters. As the NEAR onchain governance body, it handled this vote.&nbsp;
The<a href="https://gov.near.org/t/hsp-029-establish-a-24-month-issuance-ramp-to-a-1-6-target-rate-of-near-token-emissions/42644" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">NEAR governance forum</a> credits Sal Ternullo of SVRN as author and lists the status as Succeeded.

The forum models 11.8M NEAR avoided over two years and 66.1M over six. It also projects a NEAR token supply reduction 24 months after activation of about 0.86%.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-is-near-inflation-going-down-span-span">Is NEAR Inflation Going Down?</h2>
Yes, gradually. The NEAR inflation rate 1.6% target arrives at month 24, through a NEAR annual reduction of roughly 3.75 basis points monthly.&nbsp;
This NEAR inflation cut applies NEAR epoch step by step, and the NEAR emission schedule is public.
For NEAR token emissions, the NEAR supply schedule becomes verifiable. The forum frames this NEAR tokenomics update as the second step toward NEAR long-term tokenomics.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-when-will-near-change-take-effect-span-span">When Will NEAR Change Take Effect?</h2>
Not immediately. The announcement lists these steps:
<ul>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">NEAR Security Council review comes before ratification.</li>
 <li style="margin-left: 0px; list-style-type: disc">A ~90-day grace period follows ratification.</li>

Near Protocol News cannot answer that. Slower dilution may help non-stakers, yet staking yield falls too, and the forum says 24 of 405 pools lose self-sufficiency.

Analysts tracking NEAR Protocol news today may read this as a supply story first, a price story later.&nbsp;
The forum cites Solana’s SGP-0002, ratified on August 28, 2026 with 67.001% of stake, as precedent. Near Protocol News readers should watch validator adoption, since that decides timing.
