Sui (SUI) is trading at $0.87083, down 3.74% over the past 24 hours, as broad crypto market sentiment sours amid no identifiable protocol-level catalyst on the Sui network itself.

What to Know About Sui's Price Drop Today

The decline comes against a backdrop of elevated market fear. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index sits at 26, classified as Fear, indicating that risk appetite across the broader digital asset market has contracted. SUI's move is consistent with that wider pressure on high-beta altcoins when Bitcoin-era sentiment turns defensive.
Critically, the selloff does not appear to originate from any failure on the Sui blockchain. The official Sui network status page reported all monitored mainnet components operational on November 2, with no incidents listed from October 19 through November 2, 2026. Network uptime was not a factor in today's price weakness.
Similar pressure is visible across Layer-1 altcoins today. Aptos (APT) has also recorded losses in the same session, reflecting a shared risk-off posture among newer smart-contract platforms rather than any Sui-specific event.
Market and Token Factors Pressuring SUI

Derivatives positioning on SUI currently shows a neutral lean. The funding rate stands at 0.0100%, a figure that sits near zero and signals neither an aggressive long nor a short bias among perpetual futures traders. A neutral funding rate rules out a leveraged-long unwind as the primary cause of the drawdown.

The orderbook tells a different story from the price action. The bid/ask ratio for SUI is 1.58, firmly in buy-pressure territory (readings above 1.3 indicate more resting buy orders than sell orders). That divergence, spot price falling while the orderbook leans bid-heavy, suggests the selling is coming from market-sell orders rather than a structural shift in trader conviction. Spot volume over 24 hours reached $0.25 billion, a figure that provides adequate liquidity context for a move of this magnitude without signalling abnormal distribution.

The broader altcoin environment is consistent with what Bitcoin-focused analysis would predict during a Fear-regime reading: high-beta assets with shorter track records reprice faster and deeper than Bitcoin when risk sentiment deteriorates. Ondo (ONDO) has seen comparable pressure in the same window, reinforcing the market-wide character of today's moves.

One verified positive development from the past week has not been enough to offset the macro headwind. On October 29, the Sui Foundation announced that Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil's largest crypto exchange with 4.5 million clients, would integrate SUI, USDC, and USDsui (the Sui-native dollar, also called Hashi). The exchange holds 10 regulatory licenses across Brazil and Europe, including authorization from the Central Bank of Brazil and the CVM securities-broker authorization. Despite the reach of that integration, the announcement predates today's session by several days and has not acted as a durable price floor against the wider risk-off move.

No single Sui-specific catalyst has been identified as the proximate cause of the decline. The available evidence points to market-led selling rather than an ecosystem event, a conclusion consistent with the clean network status and the neutral funding-rate reading.

What Traders Are Watching Next for SUI

The bid/ask ratio of 1.58 is the most constructive near-term signal in the current data set. If resting bids absorb continued spot selling and the ratio holds above 1.3, that would suggest the correction is finding a floor rather than accelerating. A drop in the ratio below 1.0 would indicate the buy side is pulling back and selling pressure is intensifying.

Funding rates near zero are a neutral reading, but they can shift quickly. A move into negative territory, where shorts pay longs, would indicate that bearish positioning is building in perpetual futures and could add downward price pressure. Traders monitoring SUI should watch for that threshold as a confirmation of sustained weakness versus a brief dip. Live derivatives data is tracked at Coincu's SUI market page.

The Mercado Bitcoin integration represents a medium-term demand catalyst once it goes live, given the exchange's 4.5-million client base and its licensed status in two jurisdictions. Whether that pipeline converts to meaningful spot volume will matter more than the announcement itself. Other altcoins facing similar sell pressure have recovered once exchange-driven demand materialized rather than remained speculative.

The Fear & Greed Index at 26 has historically preceded stabilization periods in Bitcoin-adjacent assets when it fails to move lower. A sustained recovery above 30 on that index would indicate the macro sentiment environment is becoming less hostile for SUI and the broader altcoin market.
