MULTI/DEX Play Mode Update Puts ICP Back in Focus

MULTI/DEX is a decentralized exchange built on ICP, and it is now running in play mode.
Users trade with free dummy crypto, so no real funds are involved. This Internet Computer news today report covers the Nov 2, 2026 announcement, the platform page, and current market data.

Internet Computer News Today: What Dominic Williams Announced

DFINITY founder Dominic Williams posted on Nov 2, 2026, that a major advance for MULTI/DEX went live. He described it as the first order book exchange that is fully on-chain and open source.
He said it has margin trading, an AMM, and swaps, with no owner and no backdoors. He also called it MiCA compliant. These are the founder’s own claims and are not independently verified.
The platform page lists three core products:

Swap: exchange digital asset tokens directly, without first selling into a currency token.

Markets: trade on order book markets at spot, or open leveraged long and short positions.

Earn: deposit assets into the AMM vault or the Insurance Fund to earn yield.

Why a Fully On-Chain Order Book Is Hard to Build

An order book updates with every new bid, ask, and cancellation. On most blockchains, each update costs gas fees and adds delay.
That is why many DeFi platforms use AMMs, which price trades from pooled funds, or match trades off-chain. MULTI/DEX combines an on-chain order book with an AMM, per its founder and platform page.

How the NNS Would Govern an Ownerless Exchange

The platform page says everything, including its own interface, is tamperproof code updated through Network Nervous System (NNS) votes.
Williams’ post says the app has no owner, so governance replaces company control. For Internet Computer news today, that governance route is the key difference from a company-run crypto exchange.
