Paxos has frozen 1,906.67 PAXG tokens after reports of a security incident at Binance. The PAXG freeze covers one wallet linked to a suspected attacker.
Blockchain analysis showed PAXG held on the Binance platform was moved to that address earlier in the day.

The issuer confirmed the movement through its own blockchain investigation before acting, according to its official post on X. The company called the situation rapidly evolving and promised updates as details emerge.

Which Wallet Did Paxos Freeze, and What Does It Change?

The frozen address is 0x5227f603C1eE34CE3C06eFe6477003BDfCCB2f8c. A freeze by the issuer stops the tokens at that address from moving any further.
The issuer can do this because it issues the token. That is why a Paxos token freeze is possible for PAXG, while assets without a central issuer offer no such option.

Binance Security Incident: How Did PAXG Reach the Attacker?

Binance confirmed a Binance security incident on October 30, 2026 and temporarily suspended withdrawals on multiple networks as a precaution.
The exchange put the estimated impact at about $6.3 billion, with around $3 billion in assets frozen so far. Its early findings point to a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop, which allowed unauthorized withdrawals.

These are company claims from an early investigation. Paxos did not describe the attack method.
How Much Do We Know About the Stolen PAXG Tokens?

What reports describe as stolen PAXG tokens amount, so far, to the 1,906.67 tokens now frozen. The company post does not say whether more PAXG moved to other addresses.
The PAXG security alert arrives as Binance hack news continues to develop across the market.

Are PAXG Reserves Still Safe After the Freeze?

The company says its own systems were not impacted. It also states that reserves for PAXG, PYUSD and USDG remain fully intact, and that redemptions continue to operate normally. These are company statements, not independent audits.

What Is PAX Gold, and Why Did Paxos Step In?

PAX Gold (PAXG) is a token issued by the company and tied to physical gold, with each token representing one troy ounce. Because the issuer controls the issuance, it can act when it spots suspicious activity.
This is not the first time. In November 2022, the company froze 11,184.38 PAXG linked to FTX wallets at the direction of US federal law enforcement.

Expert Take: What Could Change the PAXG Freeze Story Next?

The key signal is whether the freeze extends to other addresses. Law enforcement involvement matters too, since the company said it will work closely with agencies and regulators.
Broader market data, including Bitcoin and Ethereum price moves, gives context but is not tied directly to this freeze.
The main uncertainty is the total scale of the incident. The data so far shows only what Paxos froze, not what Binance lost. It also remains unclear whether the frozen tokens can be recovered.

Conclusion

Paxos froze 1,906.67 PAXG within hours of the reports, backed by its own blockchain investigation.
The company says reserves and redemptions are unaffected, and the rest depends on updates from Paxos, Binance and law enforcement.
Further PAXG latest news will likely follow, and the crypto news today section will carry it as this crypto security incident develops.
