Reports circulating on October 29, 2026 allege a Binance hack involving $5.9 billion in mixed crypto assets, including XRP, Bitcoin (BTC), and Ether (ETH). The $5.9 billion figure is an unconfirmed claim drawn from a single circulating report; no on-chain transaction hash, no verified wallet attribution, and no official Binance statement had corroborated the amount at time of writing.

What Is Known About the Reported Binance Incident

According to unconfirmed reporting at U.Today, the alleged incident involves the unauthorized movement or exposure of funds across several token classes held on or associated with Binance infrastructure. The report names XRP, BTC, and ETH as among the assets cited in the alleged $5.9 billion total. For related coverage, see Artificial intelligence summit –Indonesia 2026.

Three points define what is actually known at this stage: (1) the reported scale is $5.9 billion across multiple tokens, (2) the assets named are XRP, BTC, ETH, and unspecified others, and (3) the claim remains unverified by Binance, by independent on-chain investigators, or by any regulatory body as of publication. Every number in this article should be read against that confirmation status. Context on this theme: Why Is Worldcoin (WLD) Price Down Today?.

Binance has not published an official incident notice, withdrawal suspension announcement, or law-enforcement referral that this article can directly cite. Until a verified statement is issued through Binance's official channels, the $5.9 billion figure must be treated as a single-source, unverified claim. For comparison, scrutiny of exchange-hack claims is not new; blockchain investigators previously challenged the CoinDCX $16M hack narrative, demonstrating how initial reported figures can diverge substantially from on-chain evidence.

A search for corroborating coverage of the "$5.9 billion Binance hack" returned limited secondary sourcing at time of writing, with no major wire services or on-chain analytics firms having independently confirmed the claim. Absence of corroboration does not disprove the allegation, but it raises the evidentiary bar before treating the number as settled.

XRP, BTC, ETH: Asset Scope and Valuation Uncertainty

The reported incident names XRP, Bitcoin, and Ether as part of the alleged $5.9 billion total, alongside an unspecified basket of "other tokens." No source in the available research brief supplies a token-by-token breakdown, wallet addresses, transaction hashes, block heights, or a pricing timestamp that would allow independent verification of the aggregate dollar figure.

Dollar totals in exchange-hack reports are highly sensitive to the valuation methodology used. A figure calculated at intraday highs can differ from one calculated at block-confirmation time by tens or hundreds of millions of dollars across a multi-asset portfolio of BTC, ETH, and XRP. Until an on-chain forensics firm or block explorer data anchors the figure to specific transaction records with timestamps, the $5.9 billion total should be understood as a preliminary estimate, not a settled loss amount.

No wallet addresses, BscScan or Etherscan transaction hashes, XRP Ledger transaction IDs, or mempool entries have been surfaced in the available evidence to confirm the alleged outflows. Any article citing specific addresses or transaction hashes for this incident without those primary explorer links should be treated with caution.

What Binance Users Should Monitor Right Now

Binance's withdrawal status, proof-of-reserves disclosures, and any official security notice are the three data points that will most directly affect user exposure. These should be checked only through Binance's verified domain and official social accounts, not through third-party aggregators or unverified Telegram channels, which historically amplify and distort exchange-incident reports.

Phishing-resistant two-factor authentication, such as a hardware security key or authenticator app, materially reduces account takeover risk in the window following any exchange-security headline, regardless of whether the underlying incident is confirmed. Users who have not reviewed their account activity logs or API key permissions in the past 30 days should do so as a precautionary measure.

Binance.US regulatory positioning and its pursuit of expanded product approvals, including CFTC approval for prediction markets alongside Blockchain.com, adds regulatory sensitivity to any confirmed security incident. A verified breach of this reported scale would likely draw immediate regulatory scrutiny and could affect pending applications.

Users seeking exchange alternatives while awaiting clarification should evaluate platforms based on proof-of-reserves attestations, withdrawal liquidity, and regulatory standing. A current comparison of non-custodial and no-KYC exchange options in 2026 provides a reference point for those weighing custody risk.

Market Impact: No Verified Price Data Available

At time of writing, the research brief underpinning this article returned null values for BTC, ETH, and XRP spot prices, 24-hour change, market cap, and volume from the CoinGecko price endpoint. No fear-and-greed index score was available from the Alternative.me API. As a result, this article cannot publish a verified price impact table or quantified market reaction figure tied to this specific incident.

Readers requiring live market data should consult primary market data sources directly for current BTC, ETH, and XRP prices, as any figures published without a sourced timestamp would be speculative in the context of a rapidly developing story. Price moves observed around the time of an unconfirmed hack report can reflect rumor-driven volatility rather than fundamental repricing, and the two should not be conflated until the incident is confirmed or denied.

If the $5.9 billion figure is confirmed by on-chain data, the incident would rank among the largest single exchange security events by dollar value on record. That comparison becomes meaningful only when the underlying transaction evidence is published. Until then, the market impact section of this story has no verified data to analyze.

Verification Checklist Before Acting on This Report

Four conditions should be met before the $5.9 billion claim can be reported as established fact: (1) Binance issues an official security notice with incident details, (2) at least one on-chain analytics firm identifies wallet addresses and transaction hashes linked to the alleged outflow, (3) the dollar figure is anchored to a specific block timestamp and pricing reference, and (4) the affected token quantities are broken out individually rather than reported as a combined estimate.

None of those four conditions had been met by the sources available at time of publication. This article will be updated as verified information becomes available through primary sources. Readers should rely on Binance's official incident communications and verified on-chain explorer data, not on social media totals or unattributed screenshots, when assessing the actual scope of any confirmed event.
