Artificial intelligence is creating new possibilities for digital payments as autonomous systems become increasingly capable of performing tasks independently. These systems will be used for more than just providing information and executing instructions; they will also have to access services, data and pay for computing resources. The development might open up a new market in blockchain systems, especially ones that enable quick transactions and programmable financial applications.

This was mentioned at Ripple Swell, where the founders of t54 Labs, Chandler Fang, shared his thoughts about the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and Ripple USD (RLUSD) and how they can help facilitate payments between AI agents. The conversation shed light on a key partnership between blockchain and AI.

These deals might include independent agents paying for software subscriptions, buying computing power, accessing information or making financial transactions without the need for human approval on each and every payment. While the adoption so far has not been widespread, the talk has brought into focus blockchain networks that could be used to facilitate automated financial transactions. The top 5 cryptocurrencies to keep an eye on as the sector evolves are Solana, Injective, Aptos, Sui, and Sei.

Solana (SOL) Could Benefit From Growing Demand for Fast Payments

Solana may draw interest from those looking to the blockchain to create automated payments. It is used for decentralized applications, transferring stablecoins and other financial transactions. All these features may become important when AI agents start transacting frequently on digital platforms.

Injective (INJ) Brings Decentralized Financial Infrastructure Into Focus

Injective is dedicated to creating decentralized financial applications and blockchain-based trading infrastructure. It has smart contract functionality which may allow for the creation of applications involving automated financial transactions. The networks that enable decentralized financial services may be increasingly in the spotlight as more interest in transactions powered by AI.

Aptos (APT) Offers Infrastructure for Automated Blockchain Applications

Another cryptocurrency to watch is Aptos — the developers are exploring machine-driven financial applications. It has a blockchain platform that enables the creation of smart contracts and decentralized applications, which can be used for digital transactions. The increased interest in autonomous services could lead to an increased interest in networks that support these activities.

Sui (SUI) Could Attract Interest From AI Application Developers

Sui offers infrastructure capabilities enabling the building of decentralized apps and programmable transactions. The object-oriented design provides developers with an alternative way of developing blockchain-based services. Networks that are designed to support flexible application development may become more prominent, given the need for automated systems to communicate with digital assets.

Sei (SEI) Remains Relevant to Automated Financial Activity

As an automated system becomes involved in the digital marketplace, its role in decentralized finance could come into play. With such a rise in demand for machine driven transactions, interest may be rising in networks that are centered on financial applications.

The discussion at Ripple Swell points to a new world for blockchain applications and uses beyond traditional payments and trading cryptocurrencies. As AI agents start making transactions without human intervention, the need for appropriate financial infrastructure may grow. But that is yet to be confirmed, and the five cryptocurrencies won't necessarily benefit from it directly.
