Canton Strategic Holdings, a company listed on Nasdaq under the ticker CNTN, has announced initiatives to tokenize its outstanding common shares using blockchain technology. The company, which previously operated as biotechnology firm Tharimmune, is planning to begin trading the tokenized shares on the Canton Network as early as November 2.

Blockchain move targets wider access

The tokenization project involves partnerships with TSV LLC, which provides a marketplace for tokenized securities, and Fairmint, a transfer agent registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Canton Strategic Holdings stated that the tokenized shares will offer the same shareholder rights as its currently listed Nasdaq stock.

Fairmint is set to keep precise ownership records and ensure transfers comply with regulatory requirements, while trading on the blockchain-based Canton Network will enable 24/7 transactions via an automated market maker. According to the company, this framework promises instantaneous settlement of trades, aiming to simplify and speed up the share transfer process.

On Nasdaq, CNTN shares recently averaged a daily trading volume of 757,704, with the most recent price at $2.13 and a market capitalization of $170 million. The company’s share price rose more than 4.5% in the latest session, based on Yahoo Finance data.

Regulatory backdrop and industry shift

The decision to launch trading of tokenized shares follows the SEC’s release of its September innovation exemption, a regulatory adjustment described by the participating parties as providing a pathway for domestic trading of tokenized US equities.

Regulatory updates in September opened new avenues for blockchain-powered securities trading, paving the way for digitized US stocks to trade on compliant domestic venues.

Canton Strategic Holdings redirected its business strategy toward digital assets in November 2025, subsequent to securing $545 million in capital aimed at developing infrastructure around Canton Coin. After rebranding in February, the firm diversified its activity by holding cryptocurrencies, supporting Canton Network operations, and investing in blockchain-based ventures.

Despite its name, Canton Strategic Holdings is not the creator of the Canton Network. The network was developed by Digital Asset, a financial technology company specializing in distributed ledger solutions.

However, Canton Strategic Holdings maintains a connection with the Canton Foundation through strategic investments and active involvement in network governance. The partnership signals an ongoing relationship between the publicly traded company and the broader digital asset ecosystem.
