The Fed's move has elevated interest rates and inflation to again focus the cryptocurrency market outlook. The Fed on Wednesday kept the benchmark interest rate unchanged and said overall economic growth remained strong amid continued inflation pressure despite its restoration of a dual mandate of maintaining inflation in check and keeping unemployment low. The move comes after a rate hike in September, and now investors have to wait and see if policymakers will further raise rates before the end of the year. Warsh did not say it wouldn't be bigger in the future, adding fuel to the fire of incoming inflation and employment data.

Shorter-term factors such as higher borrowing costs and favorable (high) Treasury yields can increase the appeal of lower-risk investments, while weaker policy prospects can boost demand for speculative investments. But interest rates are not the only factor affecting digital assets. Prices can also be influenced by factors such as liquidity, investor sentiment, token supply, network activity, and overall economic conditions. In the midst of ongoing uncertainty, investors will have to watch a number of factors linked to the different sectors of the market, such as Solana (SOL), Shiba Inu (SHIB), BNB, GIGA, and TURBO.

Solana (SOL): Network Activity and Ecosystem Demand

Solana is a smart-contract blockchain, employed in DeFi, token trading, payments, and more. The network's transaction fee is paid in its native SOL token, and SOL can also be staked, contributing to the security of the network. The volumes of applications and transactions used, as well as the reliability of the network, are good indicators of the activity of an ecosystem. If economic conditions are difficult, a weak economy could see speculative demand drop even with adequate network usage. The broader market liquidity, as well as events within SOL's ecosystem, therefore have an impact on SOL's performance.

Shiba Inu (SHIB): Beyond Its Meme-Coin Origins

Though it started out as a meme coin, Shiba Inu has grown to have a much wider ecosystem, featuring Shibarium, a layer-2 protocol, and ShibaSwap, a decentralized exchange. While other ecosystem tokens serve to support extra functions, SHIB is still very much tied to community involvement and speculative buying and selling. Investors will be able to follow the development of Shibarium and the evolution of its token supply, liquidity, and trading volume. These indicators are useful to distinguish project growth from overall trends in meme coins.

BNB: Exchange Ecosystem and Blockchain Utility

BNB is utilized for fee payment in the BNB Chain ecosystem and can also be used to facilitate transactions on all decentralized applications. It also has utility within Binance-related services, which will be dependent on the product and jurisdiction. Factors such as network activity, application usage, token burns, and regulatory shifts can affect its market sentiment. However, a change in the Fed's policy would impact BNB indirectly, not just because of its underlying blockchain capabilities.

GIGA and TURBO: Speculation Remains Central

GIGA is prominent in the meme coin space on Solana, much like the Gigachad meme coin, and has been driven largely by meme coin hype and speculation. TURBO is a meme coin based on Ethereum that is associated with the themes of artificial intelligence. There's a reason all of the above two tokens shouldn't be treated as blockchain infrastructure stocks. Changes in social interest, access to the exchange, holder concentration, and trading liquidity may cause their prices to fluctuate significantly.
