Liquidators overseeing the wind-down of Prince Group have indicated that Chinese nationals who lost funds through entities connected to the Cambodian conglomerate may be eligible to file claims, while separate reports allege that more than 90,000 BTC passed through corporate structures linked to the group, a figure that, if substantiated, would place the operation among the largest crypto-linked fraud cases in Southeast Asian history.

The development follows a U.S. Department of Justice indictment against the chairman of a Cambodian conglomerate for allegedly operating a sprawling cyber fraud empire, with Prince Group named among the interconnected entities under scrutiny. Both the claims process and the Bitcoin-flow figure carry important caveats: liquidators have used conditional language around eligibility, and the 90,000 BTC assertion requires independent forensic attribution before it can be treated as a settled fact.
What Prince Group Liquidators Said About Chinese Victim Claims

According to reporting on the liquidation proceedings, the appointed liquidators stated that Chinese victims of fraud connected to Prince Group's network may be permitted to submit formal claims against the estate. The use of "may" is deliberate and significant, reflecting that eligibility criteria have not been publicly finalized in documents independently verified at the time of publication.
Who May Be Eligible to Submit a Claim

Prospective claimants described in reports include Chinese nationals who allege financial losses tied to investment schemes, telecommunications fraud operations, or related scams run through Prince Group subsidiaries or affiliated entities. The liquidators have not, in publicly available statements reviewed for this article, issued a confirmed deadline, published a formal claims portal, or specified minimum loss thresholds that would qualify a victim for submission.
What Prospective Claimants Should Confirm Before Applying

Any individual considering a claim should seek confirmation directly from the court-appointed liquidators via official legal notices, as procedural requirements in cross-border insolvency proceedings vary substantially by jurisdiction. The distinction between Prince Group's corporate entities, its banking arm, and affiliated fraud operations matters for standing; a claim against one legal entity does not automatically translate to standing against another. The National Bank of Cambodia's suspension of Prince Bank operations adds further complexity to the jurisdictional picture, as banking creditors and fraud victims may occupy different positions in the priority waterfall.

The Reported 90,000 BTC Linked to Related Entities

Reports claim that more than 90,000 BTC passed through entities connected to Prince Group, though no independently verified wallet addresses, blockchain transaction records, or named forensic methodology have been supplied in the available research at the time of writing. The figure is drawn from the headline claim and has not been confirmed against a block explorer or published chain-analysis report for this article.

What "Passed Through" Means, and What It Does Not Prove

Transaction throughput is a measure of aggregate flow, not of current holdings or recoverable assets. A figure representing BTC that "passed through" related entities encompasses deposits, withdrawals, layering transactions, and pass-through movements over an unspecified time window. It does not establish that the entities held 90,000 BTC simultaneously, that those coins remain traceable to specific wallets, or that any portion is available for recovery and distribution to claimants. Conflating throughput with holdings is a common misreading in crypto fraud reporting, and the distinction carries direct implications for how victims should calibrate recovery expectations.

Without a valuation date and a documented BTC price at the time of each transaction, converting the 90,000 BTC figure into a USD equivalent would produce a misleading number. At various points over the past several years, 90,000 BTC has represented values ranging from under $2 billion to over $8 billion depending on prevailing market prices, underscoring why a single conversion without a date anchor is analytically meaningless.

The DOJ's indictment of the conglomerate chairman, filed by the U.S. Department of Justice, provides the most authoritative public anchor for the underlying allegations, though it does not itself verify the 90,000 BTC figure as of the documents reviewed. Readers and potential claimants should treat that number as a reported allegation pending forensic corroboration.

What Needs Verification Next

The research underlying this report carries a partial verification status, with no confirmed primary documents establishing the claims process, its timeline, or the Bitcoin-flow methodology. Two categories of evidence would substantially change the evidentiary weight of this story if they become publicly available.

Liquidator Notices, Court Filings, and Claim Instructions

Official liquidation notices filed with the relevant court, a published claims bar date, and an administrator-verified list of qualifying entities would transform the conditional "may file claims" framing into a concrete procedural directive. Until those documents are independently verified, victims should not act solely on secondary reporting. Cross-border insolvency matters involving Cambodian entities, Chinese claimants, and potentially U.S.-jurisdictional charges represent a multi-layer legal environment where claim deadlines can be short and procedural errors can be fatal to recovery.

Wallet Attribution, Transaction Records, and Methodology Behind the 90,000 BTC Figure

A credible forensic accounting of 90,000 BTC in throughput would require: named wallet clusters attributed to Prince Group entities via chain-analysis methodology, a defined time window for the transactions, documentation of whether the figure covers on-chain movements only or includes off-chain internal ledger transfers, and a named forensic firm or government agency attesting to the methodology. None of those elements appear in the currently available research. A blockchain explorer entry linking specific transaction hashes to a named Prince Group address would provide the first layer of independent verification.

Why the Distinction Matters for Victims and Creditors

An invitation to file a claim opens a procedural door; it does not guarantee admission, validation, or payment. In most insolvency regimes, submitted claims pass through a validation stage where the liquidator reviews supporting documentation, may reject or discount claims that lack evidence, and then ranks approved claims according to a statutory priority waterfall. Secured creditors, administrative expenses, and certain regulatory claims typically sit ahead of unsecured fraud victims in that ranking.

Even if Chinese victims clear the validation stage and receive an approved claim, actual distribution depends on the size of the recoverable estate. If the 90,000 BTC figure reflects historical throughput rather than current holdings, the pool available for distribution could be a small fraction of the headline number, or close to zero if assets were dissipated, converted to fiat, or moved to jurisdictions where enforcement is unavailable. Victims tracking developments in related Southeast Asian fraud enforcement should also monitor how the DOJ's case against the chairman progresses, since any asset forfeiture secured through U.S. criminal proceedings may be separate from, and potentially prior to, the civil liquidation estate.

Cases of similar architecture, where a conglomerate simultaneously operated licensed financial entities and unlicensed fraud infrastructure using cryptocurrency rails, have historically produced low recovery rates for retail victims, particularly those in jurisdictions with limited mutual legal assistance treaty coverage with the countries where assets are held. That context does not preclude recovery here, but it underscores why official liquidator communications rather than secondary reporting should guide victim decisions about filing costs and legal representation.

FAQ

Can Chinese Victims File a Prince Group Claim?

According to reports on the liquidation proceedings, Chinese nationals may be eligible to submit claims, but eligibility has not been confirmed via independently verified court documents at the time of publication. Prospective claimants should seek official notices directly from the appointed liquidators rather than relying on media summaries to determine whether they qualify, what documentation is required, and when any deadline falls.

Does 90,000 BTC Mean the Entities Own That Bitcoin?

No. The reported figure describes BTC that allegedly "passed through" related entities, a transaction-flow metric that covers inflows and outflows over time. It does not establish simultaneous holdings, current custody, or recoverable assets. Attributing the full throughput figure to current Prince Group holdings would be a material mischaracterization of what the reported data, even if later verified, would actually show.

Where Should Victims Look for Official Claim Information?

Victims should monitor official court notices issued in the jurisdiction where the liquidation is administered, communications published directly by the named liquidators, and any Cambodian regulatory announcements given Prince Bank's supervised status under the National Bank of Cambodia. The DOJ press release linked above provides background on the criminal allegations but does not serve as a claims portal or substitute for liquidation-specific legal guidance. Engaging a lawyer with cross-border insolvency experience before submitting a claim is advisable given the jurisdictional complexity of the case.

What Is the Next Concrete Milestone to Watch?

The next verifiable triggers in this case are: a formal claims bar date published by the liquidators, any court ruling on the scope of eligible claimants, and the progression of the DOJ's criminal indictment against the chairman, which may surface additional documentary evidence about the scale and structure of the Bitcoin flows alleged in secondary reports. A published forensic chain-analysis report attributing specific wallet clusters to Prince Group entities would also materially advance the evidentiary basis for the 90,000 BTC figure and, by extension, inform the likely size of any recoverable crypto estate. Readers tracking the intersection of Southeast Asian fraud enforcement and crypto asset recovery should also follow how similar cases, such as the post-exploit recovery processes seen in major DeFi incidents, have handled cross-jurisdictional asset tracing as a procedural reference point.
