Pump.fun (PUMP) is getting attention again, and a small price jump is not the only reason. The token comes from a Solana-based crypto launchpad, a website where anyone can make a meme coin in a few minutes with no coding skills.
Many people are searching for a pump. fun news today because of a huge token burn, a new buyback plan, and the iOS app coming back.
This guide explains how the site works, what the token is for, how the supply is shared out, and what could go wrong. All details were checked on October 28, 2026.

What Is a Pump. fun, and how does the launchpad work?

Pump.fun is a quick way to make meme coins. A user chooses a name, adds a picture, and launches the token. Trading begins at once on a bonding curve, which is a price rule that makes the token cost more as more people buy it.
When a token gets enough buyers, it moves to a larger decentralized exchange and trades like any other Solana coin. Public dashboards show about $158 billion in total trading volume since the site opened in January 2024.

It also has PumpSwap, its own exchange, a trading terminal, a livestream tool, and a mobile app. Every one of these earns fees, and the fees matter for the token later.

How Does the Pump.fun Token Work in Practice?

The pump.fun token uses the ticker PUMP. It started in July 2025 with a maximum supply of 1 trillion tokens. The project calls it the main utility token of the platform, yet nobody needs to own PUMP to make or trade a meme coin. The site is open to everyone.
That means the token must win demand from the business around it. No rule pushes users to buy it. The open design helps the platform, but the token now depends on revenue, buybacks, and new products to keep people interested.

The team and early investors hold 33% of the supply together, and only 11.1% of each share is out so far. A vesting schedule is the plan that decides when locked tokens are freed, and this one still has a long road ahead. The snapshot shows about $753.2 million locked for the team and $489.6 million for investors, with the next unlock due in 23 days. These dollar amounts rise and fall with the token price.
All other pools are fully released. Most of the future selling pressure can come from two groups.

How Do Pump.fun Automated Buybacks and Burns Work?

On April 28, 2026, the project said it burned every token it had bought back from the market. That came to about 127 billion PUMP, worth around $370 million then, or close to 36% of the circulating supply.
Earlier, the platform spent 100% of its revenue on buybacks. Pump.fun automated buybacks now use 50% of net revenue from the bonding curve, PumpSwap, and Terminal. A locked smart contract buys PUMP on the open market, and each token it buys is burned right away. The plan is set for one year.
Co-founder Alon Cohen said the lower share keeps cash free for growth, hiring, and acquisitions. Public dashboard data quoted by media shows gross revenue of $971.37 million in 2025, with about $320 million on pace for 2026. Can a slower income stream still take enough supply out of the market?

What Is the Latest Pump. Fun Update: Say About the Roadmap?

The latest pump. Fun news is about app access and supply. The iOS app returned in the United States and India on September 18, 2026. A bounty platform named GO is planned for the third quarter. The 2026 roadmap for Pump.fun (PUMP) also lists a move to Ethereum and Monad.
One report talks about a planned burn of about 36% of total supply in the fourth quarter. No date has been shared, and official channels have not confirmed it. The April burn had the same 36% number but was measured against circulating supply, so the two should not be confused. Talk about Robinhood Chain and perpetual trading, which is still unconfirmed.

Expert Take: What Should Readers Watch Closely?

The best sign is the buyback contract. It links token demand to real platform income and removes human choice from the burns. The main worry is pace, since revenue is down from its 2025 peak and the buyback share was cut in half.
The April burn looks like a clear win at first. But earlier large buybacks did not keep the price up for long, and that history counts.
The biggest unknown is the unlock schedule. With 33% of supply still locked, the short-term picture for Pump.fun (PUMP) looks careful, because a rally without matching revenue growth would face a lot of fresh supply.
Readers should check the burn date, contract address, and live circulating supply on the official website, the project’s token page, and the Solana explorer. Third-party summaries can be out of date. One wrong number can change the whole picture for new readers.

What Are the Main Risks Around Pump.fun (PUMP)?

Price swings: meme coin markets can move sharply within hours.

Unlocks: Team and investor tokens could add new supply when released.

Revenue: less platform activity means less buyback power.

Plan changes: the project may change or end its buyback plans.

New tokens: most newly launched meme coins can lose value fast, and scams and insider holdings are common.

Rules: token laws differ by country and can change.

Conclusion

Pump.fun (PUMP) joins a busy crypto launchpad with a token tied to revenue-funded burns. The April burn, the 50% buyback contract, and the iOS return explain the fresh attention.
Locked team and investor supply, lower revenue, and an unconfirmed fourth-quarter burn, keep the outlook unclear. Readers should check official announcements, live supply, and unlock dates next.
