Ripple has entered a partnership with Robinhood to broaden the use of its stablecoin, RLUSD, across settlement, treasury, and financing services for institutional clients. RLUSD is being launched on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp, and a listing within Robinhood’s main trading app is anticipated later this year. Bitstamp, which is among the world’s longest-running cryptocurrency exchanges, will also integrate RLUSD for institutional settlement.

Rollout of RLUSD on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp

Ripple reported RLUSD’s market capitalization has surpassed $2.5 billion, reaching this milestone roughly 22 months after its December 2024 introduction. Although the company outlined plans to expand institutional utility through Robinhood and Bitstamp, it has not yet shared specific launch volumes or an exact date for the token’s debut on the Robinhood retail app.

The stablecoin market at large remains highly competitive and is dominated by Tether’s USDT and Circle’s USDC, which collectively contribute to a market capitalization above $300 billion. RLUSD, pegged to the US dollar, is Ripple’s foray into this space, targeting both payments and capital markets through institutional channels.

Bitstamp will utilize RLUSD for institutional settlements via the XRP Ledger, while RLUSD becomes available on Robinhood Chain for blockchain transactions. For retail users, app trading access to RLUSD will be provided later in the year, following initial institutional integration.

Institutional Utility Through Ripple Treasury and Ripple Prime

Johann Kerbrat, head of Robinhood Crypto, highlighted that both Robinhood and Bitstamp will adopt RLUSD for various settlement scenarios. Ripple Treasury will handle Robinhood’s internal cash management, while Ripple Prime, a division offering institutional trading and clearing services, will extend financing and margin opportunities. This cooperation is intended to unify payment, treasury, and trading solutions within Robinhood’s broader financial ecosystem.

Ripple Prime already provides Bitstamp with lending, margin financing, and spot trading across a portfolio of approximately 20 digital assets, with plans to introduce perpetual futures trading soon. Ripple acquired the business, formerly known as Hidden Road, for $1.25 billion in April 2025. In a related move, Robinhood completed its acquisition of Bitstamp for around $200 million in June 2025.

Ripple Treasury oversees corporate funds and operational risk, leveraging tools such as intercompany netting to streamline internal transactions and reduce the need for actual cash transfers.

The partnership extends these treasury and financing solutions globally for Robinhood, although the companies have not specified operational timelines for each service. Robinhood has also revealed its ambition to build a comprehensive “financial super-app” for both retail and institutional customers.

Bitstamp is one of the world’s oldest cryptocurrency exchanges, known for its focus on regulatory compliance and institutional services.

Stablecoin Market Position and XRP Price Levels

RLUSD’s growth places it among the top stablecoins by capitalization, though it trails far behind market leaders. Stablecoins like USDT and USDC are widely used by financial institutions for payments, settlement, and cash management, and RLUSD’s institutional focus aims to capture a portion of this demand. Ripple’s Payments division, established eight years ago, supports cross-border transfers for both RLUSD and XRP, as well as competing stablecoins.

Circle is also increasing its reach in institutional payments through its Circle Payments Network, which facilitates transfers using USDC and other digital assets, highlighting intensifying competition in this financial infrastructure segment.

Meanwhile, XRP, Ripple’s flagship digital asset, remained relatively stable, trading near $1.31 over the past 24 hours. Technical analysis indicated improving momentum with the four-hour relative strength index above 55. The Supertrend indicator stayed bearish near $1.33, while descending trendline resistance remained at $1.35. Support was identified at $1.28, and a potential breakout could push XRP toward the $1.38 to $1.40 zone.

Ripple and Robinhood’s integration centers on institutional settlement using RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, rather than direct XRP purchases. The companies have not provided expected transaction volumes, and RLUSD’s app listing on Robinhood is still pending. Institutions represent the majority of Bitstamp’s trading activity, providing RLUSD with an established ecosystem as it targets further growth.
