Greed

Intel, Oracle, IBM and IonQ have formally objected to the OKX–ICE tokenized stock plans, according to an October 26 public notice published by OKXICE — the joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. The four additions push the total number of issuer objections to 26, raising questions about the viability of one of the most ambitious tokenized-equity proposals in crypto.

The October 26 notice names International Business Machines Corporation (IBM), IonQ, Inc., Oracle Corporation and Intel Corporation as issuers that have each submitted a formal notice of objection. The document is hosted directly on OKXICE's exchange infrastructure as a primary public record.
Of the 62 companies on the original proposed roster, CoinDesk reports that 23 have objected, representing about 37% of that initial group. The 26 total figure is higher because it includes objectors added outside the original selection.
What the OKX–ICE tokenized stock proposal involves

OKXICE's October 4 initial notice proposed creating Uniswap v4 liquidity pools on OKX's X Layer blockchain, with transactions settled in stablecoins. The structure is designed for around-the-clock trading of tokenized representations of publicly listed shares, operating under what CoinDesk characterizes as an SEC five-year Innovation Exemption. The exact terms of that exemption have not been independently confirmed from a direct SEC filing.

Tokenized stocks are blockchain-based instruments meant to track the price of an underlying equity. Holders of such tokens do not necessarily receive the voting rights, dividends, or legal ownership protections associated with conventional share ownership — a distinction that is central to the concerns issuers are raising. The growing wave of corporate pushback echoes the regulatory friction that has slowed other blockchain-based financial products, similar to the scrutiny seen when Ripple sought approval as a national trust bank.

Why the objections could matter for tokenized equities

A 37% objection rate from the original roster is a material signal that many issuers prefer, as one participant put it, to "wait and see how it goes rather than be the first to participate," per CoinDesk's reporting. That posture, attributed to Andrew Cuomo in CoinDesk's account, reflects a broader wariness among corporations about having their brand attached to crypto-native infrastructure without explicit consent.

The scale of pushback may complicate the listing process for OKXICE and test the regulatory framework under which it is operating. If issuers can opt out at the exchange's discretion, the proposal's reach narrows considerably. Investors tracking crypto-adjacent equity stories, including those monitoring institutional moves around digital asset products, will be watching whether OKXICE proceeds with a reduced roster or revises its proposal in response.

OKX's native token OKB was trading at $109.07 at the time of writing, down 0.16% in 24 hours, with a market cap near $2.29 billion. The broader crypto market's Fear and Greed Index sits at 48, signaling a neutral sentiment environment. The next key development to watch is whether OKXICE issues a revised notice or proceeds with objecting issuers removed from the venue's active roster.
