US traders can now access cryptocurrency perpetual futures with up to 5x leverage through Crypto.com, following the launch of a derivatives offering distributed through its partnership with OG.com. The October 27 launch gives eligible retail users access through the Crypto.com App, while advanced and institutional users can trade through the Crypto.com Exchange .
The product introduces non-expiring crypto derivative contracts into Crypto.com's US trading ecosystem. According to the companies, the offering is supported by a regulatory structure involving a Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC)-regulated exchange and clearinghouse, with Crypto.com acting as an introducing broker through its registered entity.
The launch reflects a broader effort to expand access to crypto derivatives within regulated US markets. Perpetual contracts have become a major trading instrument in cryptocurrency markets because they allow traders to maintain directional positions without managing conventional futures expiration dates. Bringing these products to US customers through a regulated framework could broaden the options available to traders seeking exposure to digital asset price movements.
The announcement follows regulatory filings for cryptocurrency perpetual futures contracts by Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (CDNA). Records published by the CFTC on October 8 list certified perpetual futures contracts referencing Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, HYPE and SEI. The filings provide regulatory context for the product rollout, although individual contract availability remains subject to the platform's supported markets and trading parameters.
Perpetual futures differ from traditional futures because they do not have a predetermined expiration date. Traders can maintain positions as long as they satisfy margin requirements, allowing them to respond to market movements without periodically rolling expiring contracts into new ones.
The contracts also allow traders to take either long or short positions. A long position benefits when the underlying asset rises, while a short position benefits when its price falls, before fees and other trading costs. This flexibility makes perpetuals useful for directional speculation and portfolio hedging, although the availability of a short position does not eliminate the risk of losses.
The companies are offering leverage of up to 5x. Leverage allows traders to control a position larger than their initial margin, increasing the potential return on capital while also magnifying losses.
For example, a trader committing $1,000 in margin could control a $5,000 position at 5x leverage, assuming the applicable margin requirements permit it. A 5% adverse move against that position would produce a $250 loss before fees and other adjustments, equivalent to 25% of the initial $1,000 margin. A sufficiently large adverse move could trigger liquidation before the trader has an opportunity to close the position manually.
Crypto.com says the product includes isolated margin, take-profit orders and stop-loss orders. Isolated margin assigns a specified amount of collateral to an individual position rather than exposing the entire trading balance to that position's margin requirements. Take-profit and stop-loss orders allow traders to establish intended exit levels, although execution prices can differ from trigger prices during volatile or illiquid conditions.
These controls may help traders manage exposure, but they do not remove the underlying risks of leveraged trading. Position limits, maintenance-margin requirements, liquidation rules and execution conditions remain important considerations when assessing how much capital a trader could lose.
The companies have also positioned the offering as part of a unified trading experience. Customers can access spot cryptocurrency markets alongside derivatives, while the wider Crypto.com ecosystem includes other products and rewards. This arrangement could appeal to traders who want to hold digital assets for longer-term exposure while using derivatives to manage shorter-term price risk.
The regulatory structure is central to the launch. The announcement identifies North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc., operating under the Crypto.com | Derivatives North America and OG.com brands, as the CFTC-registered designated contract market and derivatives clearing organization. Foris DAX Inc. is identified as the entity registered with the National Futures Association as an introducing broker, connecting the distribution arrangement to the derivatives infrastructure.
This structure distinguishes the offering from derivatives platforms operating without the same US regulatory registrations. However, regulatory registration should not be interpreted as a guarantee against trading losses or as evidence that every product feature carries identical protections. Traders should review the applicable contract specifications, disclosures and account terms before opening positions.
Competition remains a key consideration. US traders have historically faced a different derivatives landscape from participants in offshore crypto markets, where perpetual contracts are widely available. A regulated distribution model could help address demand for leveraged crypto exposure within the United States, but the launch alone does not establish how much trading volume the platform will attract or whether it can compete with established venues on liquidity, pricing and execution.
Important product details also remain to be assessed at the individual contract level. The announcement does not provide a complete list of supported assets, funding arrangements, fees, minimum trade sizes or liquidation thresholds. Those details will influence the actual cost of maintaining positions and the suitability of the product for different trading strategies.
For traders, the immediate change is access to non-expiring crypto derivatives through an established consumer-facing platform and its associated exchange infrastructure. For the companies, the launch creates an opportunity to expand their derivatives business within the US market. Its longer-term significance will depend on contract liquidity, pricing, risk controls and sustained demand from eligible customers.
The rollout therefore represents an expansion of US crypto trading options, rather than proof that regulated perpetuals will displace existing derivatives venues. Traders will need to weigh the convenience of continuous market access against leverage, funding costs, liquidation risk and the specific terms of each contract.
