The number of companies objecting to having their shares represented as tokenized assets on the OKX-ICE venue has reached 26.

IBM, Oracle, and Intel have added their names to a list of companies objecting to tokenized representations of their stock on a venue tied to crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, known as ICE. The venue's own disclosure now shows 26 companies on the opt-out list, according to crypto.news and Unchained.

Tokenized stocks are blockchain-based instruments meant to mirror the price and, in some structures, certain economic rights of publicly traded shares. They have become a popular product category for crypto exchanges seeking to bridge traditional equities markets with digital asset trading platforms. OKX has been among the firms building out such offerings, with ICE providing market infrastructure or data in some capacity tied to the arrangement.

The practice has drawn scrutiny because tokenized stock products can reference a company's shares without that company's direct involvement in structuring the product. Firms whose equities are represented this way sometimes have no formal relationship with the exchange or platform issuing the tokens. That dynamic has prompted a number of corporations to formally register objections or request exclusion once the list of referenced companies became public.

The addition of IBM, Oracle, and Intel is notable because all three are large, well-capitalized technology companies with significant public market visibility. Their inclusion on the opt-out list suggests the issue is not confined to smaller or thinly traded names. It points instead to a broader concern among issuers about how their shares are used in tokenized products they did not authorize.

The fact that the 26-company count comes directly from the venue's own notice is significant. It means OKX and ICE, or the entity administering the list, have publicly acknowledged the opt-outs rather than having the figure surface solely through outside reporting. That kind of self-disclosure can shape how regulators and market participants interpret the scale of pushback against tokenized equity products.

Tokenized stocks sit at an unsettled point in securities and market-structure regulation. Questions remain about whether such tokens constitute securities in their own right, how they should be custodied, and what disclosure obligations apply to the platforms that issue them. Corporate objections of this kind add another layer of complexity, since they raise questions about consent and intellectual property around the use of a company's name and share price data.

As more companies evaluate their exposure to tokenized trading venues, the opt-out list could continue to grow. The episode highlights the friction between crypto-native product innovation and the expectations of traditional public companies regarding how their equity is represented in new markets.

Market Impact

For crypto exchanges building tokenized equity products, a growing opt-out list could complicate expansion plans and invite closer regulatory attention to how such tokens are structured and marketed. Platforms may face pressure to secure explicit consent from referenced companies before listing new tokenized shares, which could slow product rollouts.

For OKX and any partners tied to the ICE-linked venue, sustained objections from major corporations like IBM, Oracle, and Intel could affect investor and institutional confidence in tokenized stock offerings more broadly. The situation may also influence how other exchanges approach similar products, particularly around disclosure and opt-in mechanisms, as the tokenized equities sector continues to mature under uncertain regulatory frameworks.

The expanding opt-out list underscores unresolved tension between tokenized equity innovation and corporate consent, a issue likely to draw continued attention from both companies and regulators.
