What all sources agree on

Ripple has gained the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's (OCC) final approval to build its own federally supervised national trust bank.

Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB) will handle reserves for RLUSD, act as a collateral trustee, and provide digital asset custody services to institutional customers.

RLUSD will still be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, Ripple's subsidiary regulated by the New York Department of Financial Services.

RLUSD's market cap has reached around $2.5 billion since its December 2024 launch.

Brad Garlinghouse stated: "We've always said crypto and banks work better together" and "The revolution isn't happening outside the system. It's happening from within it."

The national trust bank charter restricts Ripple to fiduciary activities such as custody and trustee services, not deposit-taking or lending like a commercial bank.

XRP's price has not rallied significantly following the announcement.

Treat the final OCC approval, RNTB's purpose, the $2.5 billion RLUSD market cap, and Garlinghouse's quoted remarks as established; the exact year of the earlier conditional OCC approval (2024 vs 2025) remains unresolved between these reports.

Cryptonews.com ties the final approval to a potential XRP price rally toward $15, linking the news to Ripple’s upcoming Swell 2026 conference in New York and citing fresh institutional partnerships and ETF demand as additional catalysts. It does not address the discrepancy over the year of the earlier conditional approval.
