Smart contract betting moves the wager itself onto a blockchain. Stake, odds, outcome and payout all become entries in a public ledger that anyone can read.
That design offers something traditional sportsbooks cannot, since bettors can check settlement without trusting the operator's database. The same openness also turns every bet into a permanent public record tied to a wallet address.
Bettors who understand what an on-chain wager exposes, and how it differs from a bet at a custodial crypto book, can weigh verification against visibility.

Some platforms also store odds on-chain, which lets bettors compare the price they took with the price the contract recorded. CryptoDaily's explainer on settling against<a href="https://cryptodaily.co.uk/2026/09/on-chain-settlement-against-on-chain-odds-at-crypto-sportsbooks" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> on-chain odds</a> covers how that works.

Custodial crypto sportsbooks hold player balances in their own systems. Deposits and withdrawals appear on-chain, while individual bets, odds and results stay in the operator's database.
Contract-based platforms reverse that split. Bets live on the chain, and the operator's records matter less for verification, as a plain-terms guide to<a href="https://cryptodaily.co.uk/2026/10/web3-sportsbooks-in-plain-terms-pools-wallets-and-on-chain-settlement" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Web3 sportsbooks</a> explains.
<h2 id="what-the-record-can-reveal">What the Record Can Reveal</h2>
One on-chain bet says little on its own. Patterns across many bets say much more.
<h3 id="betting-habits">Betting Habits</h3>
Bet frequency, preferred sports, stake sizes and active hours all show up in a wallet's history. Analysts can build a profile without knowing the bettor's name.
<h3 id="links-to-an-identity">Links to an Identity</h3>
Wallets stay pseudonymous until something connects them to a person. Exchange withdrawals from a verified account, public posts or reused addresses can create that connection.
<h3 id="approvals-left-open">Approvals Left Open</h3>
Token approvals granted to a betting contract remain active until the wallet owner revokes them. Old approvals expose funds to risk if a contract later suffers an exploit.
<h2 id="verification-and-visibility-go-together">Verification and Visibility Go Together</h2>
Public records let bettors confirm that settlement followed the result. They also let competitors, analysts and curious observers study the same data.
Platforms differ in how much they put on-chain, from settlement only to full order books. Six sportsbooks ranked on<a href="https://cryptodaily.co.uk/2026/07/6-crypto-sportsbooks-ranked-on-on-chain-transparency" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> on-chain transparency</a> show the range.
Bettors who prefer contract betting can manage exposure by reviewing approvals regularly and treating every on-chain bet as permanent and public.

Activity through the on-chain side leaves records on supported networks, while standard bets settle within the account.
Dexsport supports six wallet apps, MetaMask and TronLink among them, and takes deposits on 26 networks. Its terms hold the wallet owner responsible for every action from that wallet, even when someone else had access.
Dexapp LTD operates Dexsport under an Anjouan licence, and identity checks may apply at any stage.
<h2 id="conclusion">Conclusion</h2>
Smart contract bets record the wallet, stake, odds, timing and settlement on a public ledger. Custodial crypto sportsbooks keep those details in their own databases and show only deposits and withdrawals on-chain.
On-chain records allow independent verification of settlement, yet they also reveal betting habits and can link to an identity through exchange funding or reused addresses. Open token approvals add a security consideration.
Dexsport pairs an on-chain desk with account-based betting across 26 networks. Review wallet approvals regularly. Betting law varies by country, so confirm the rules where you live, bet only at legal age and expect that KYC or AML checks may apply.
