 Elon Musk warned that more than 200 specialized AI cloud companies could face widespread failures or consolidation, sending fresh pressure through an already battered group of technology stocks on Monday, October 26.
 CoreWeave (CRWV) fell 4.5% in early premarket trading, while Nebius (NBIS) declined 3.4% and IREN lost 3.3%. The losses followed Musk's October 25 warning that debt markets had become significantly less willing to finance businesses relying almost entirely on AI data centers.&amp;lt;iframe src=”https://widgets.coincodex.com/w/dd80674b-c780-4b9a-9f00-eec061241d7f?site=coinpaper&amp;amp;mode=light” width=”100%” height=”628” frameborder=”0” referrerpolicy=”no-referrer-when-downgrade” style=”border:0;background:transparent;border-radius:0px;”&amp;gt;&amp;lt;/iframe&amp;gt;
 The comments came after an earlier <a href="https://www.coinpaper.com/37285/elon-musk-says-yikes-as-coreweave-bond-yields-hit-15-and-crwv-stock-plunges-13" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CoreWeave bond selloff</a> pushed yields on some of the company's debt toward 15%, raising questions about the cost of sustaining rapid infrastructure expansion.Why Elon Musk Thinks Most AI Cloud Companies Could Disappear
 Neocloud providers such as CoreWeave and Nebius rent specialized computing capacity to AI developers. Unlike diversified technology giants, their growth often requires substantial borrowing to purchase Nvidia processors, develop facilities and secure electricity before customer revenue arrives.
 Musk argued that lenders are increasingly reluctant to provide financing without substantial revenue from businesses outside AI infrastructure. He predicted extensive consolidation among more than 200 operators and indicated that SpaceX would not acquire neocloud companies.
 His warning carries an unusual contrast: SpaceX has secured $40 billion in GPU financing, according to Musk, who pointed to its investment-grade credit standing and revenue from Starlink and rocket launches.
 That illustrates a broader <a href="https://coinpaper.com/35957/who-is-actually-paying-for-the-ai-boom-the-debt-is-starting-to-show" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">AI financing divide</a>: companies with established cash-generating operations may obtain funding on more favorable terms than businesses whose future profits depend heavily on AI computing demand.CoreWeave and Nebius Debt Risks Deepen
 The stock weakness extends beyond Musk's comments. CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN have each fallen more than 30% during October, while investors betting against the companies have accumulated at least $6 billion in unrealized gains, according to Reuters.
 CoreWeave's enormous <a href="https://coinpaper.com/36295/ai-infrastructure-stocks-can-coreweave-nebius-and-iren-outgrow-financing-costs" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">contracted revenue backlog</a> demonstrates substantial customer demand, but those commitments do not immediately provide the cash required to buy equipment or meet financing obligations.
 The difference is especially important as <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37345/coreweaves-default-insurance-costs-explode-above-1000-basis-points-as-ai-debt-market-shows-stress" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">credit-default swap costs</a> and bond yields signal increasing concern about AI infrastructure debt.
 Reuters reported that Nebius bonds maturing in 2034 and CoreWeave bonds maturing in 2033 had fallen to record lows. Lower bond prices can reflect demands for higher yields and worsening credit expectations, although they do not automatically increase interest expenses on existing fixed-rate borrowing.Gartner Also Warns of an AI Cloud Shakeout
 Musk is not alone in expecting consolidation. Research firm Gartner recently forecast that more than 80% of neocloud providers could cease operating independently by 2030, reflecting pressure from financing costs and increasingly competitive infrastructure economics.
 Yet consolidation does not necessarily mean that AI computing demand will collapse. Stronger operators could acquire weaker competitors, while large technology companies continue expanding their own infrastructure.
 That distinction matters for <a href="https://coinpaper.com/36299/what-happens-to-gpus-when-an-ai-cloud-company-goes-bankrupt" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">GPU-backed lenders</a>, whose recovery prospects depend on collateral values and creditor rights if a borrower fails.
 It also complicates the outlook for investors who have continued <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37485/retail-traders-pour-record-700m-into-ai-cloud-stocks-while-wall-street-grows-wary-of-debt-risks" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">buying AI cloud stocks</a> despite worsening borrowing conditions.
