Proceeds from the X100 exploit have been distributed across four separate Ethereum wallets, each holding 400 ETH, according to reporting by The Defiant. The structured, equal-sized split is the detail drawing most attention from blockchain watchers, as evenly divided allocations across multiple wallets are a recognized pattern in post-exploit fund management.

X100 Exploit Proceeds Were Split Across Four 400-ETH Wallets

The reported distribution places 400 ETH in each of four distinct wallets, for a total of 1,600 ETH spread across the cluster, as reported by The Defiant. The equal division is notable on its own: irregular splits are common when funds are moved in haste, while symmetric allocations suggest deliberate structuring after the initial exploit was complete. For related coverage, see Future Leaders Awards & Conference 2026 to Bring Global Business and Technology Leaders to Singapore on 2–3 November.

On-chain activity of this kind is publicly observable. Anyone can verify wallet balances and transaction histories through Etherscan, Ethereum's primary block explorer. However, wallet addresses alone do not establish the identity or intent of the controller, and the reported split should be understood as a transaction pattern, not an attribution.
Breaking Down the Four-Wallet Distribution

Four wallets. 400 ETH each. That structure minimizes single-wallet exposure while keeping each position beneath common reporting or flagging thresholds used by centralized exchanges. Whether that was the intent here is not established by the reported data, but the architecture is consistent with how post-exploit proceeds are frequently managed across the industry.

Similar post-exploit wallet distributions have appeared in recent months across DeFi protocols. The $388M Bitget exploit followed a comparable phase of wallet dispersal before exchange deposit attempts were identified. That pattern, deposit structuring across multiple wallets before eventual consolidation or off-ramp attempts, is a documented recovery challenge for protocols and investigators alike.

What the Four-Wallet Distribution May Signal

Splitting proceeds into equal-sized wallets could reflect several operational goals, none of which can be confirmed from the headline data alone. Diversification across wallets reduces the risk that a single address flagged by compliance tools will freeze the entire haul. It may also be preparation for parallel off-ramp attempts, or simply a precaution against losing access to a single private key.

The Limits of Interpreting Wallet Activity

Blockchain transparency cuts both ways. While on-chain records make every transfer visible, they reveal movement without motive. A wallet receiving 400 ETH could belong to a single actor, a coordinated group, or, in some prior cases, a white-hat intermediary holding funds during negotiation. None of those interpretations are supported or ruled out by the reported split alone.

Security researchers and protocol teams typically treat the wallet distribution phase as an early signal in a longer investigation, not a conclusion. The geographic or jurisdictional tracing of wallets to real-world entities requires off-chain evidence, often gathered through exchange KYC records when funds eventually touch a centralized platform.

Ethereum exchange flows add relevant context here. A separate trend tracked by on-chain analytics firm Santiment showed 169,770 ETH in net withdrawals from exchanges in a recent reporting window, meaning large ETH movements off centralized platforms are not uncommon. That broader withdrawal trend makes isolating exploit-linked wallets within exchange inflow data more difficult, since legitimate and illicit flows intermix at scale.

What to Watch Next in the X100 Wallet Trail

Post-exploit wallet monitoring typically focuses on a set of observable signals. Each represents a decision point where the controller of the funds must take a traceable action, and each creates an opportunity for identification or intervention.

Follow-Up Signals to Monitor

Wallet consolidation: If two or more of the four wallets send funds to a single new address, that consolidation event is visible on-chain and often precedes an off-ramp attempt.

Exchange deposits: Movement from any of the four wallets to a known exchange hot wallet address would trigger KYC requirements at compliant platforms and potentially freeze the funds.

Bridge activity: Cross-chain bridges are a common next step in post-exploit fund movement, as they can obscure the Ethereum origin. Bridge contract interactions would be visible in each wallet's transaction history.

Mixer or privacy protocol use: Interaction with mixing services or privacy-focused protocols would appear as a transaction from one of the four wallets to a known contract address, flagging the attempt even if the outcome obscures the trail.

New public attribution: Security firms, on-chain researchers, or protocol teams may publish wallet labels or connect addresses to known threat actors. Any such attribution would require independent on-chain evidence beyond the current distribution report.

Each of these follow-up signals requires fresh on-chain evidence or confirmed reporting before it can be treated as established fact. The current state of the reported story ends at the split: four wallets, 400 ETH each, with no confirmed next movement disclosed in available reporting as of publication.

The X100 case fits a pattern that security teams across DeFi have been tracking with increasing urgency. Exploit proceeds that reach the wallet-splitting phase without immediate protocol intervention or law enforcement coordination become significantly harder to recover. The window between initial exploit and first attempted off-ramp is where recovery is most plausible, and Ethereum's broader market resilience in recent weeks means the 1,600 ETH haul retains substantial value, raising the stakes for any recovery effort. Further reporting from The Defiant and on-chain monitoring of the identified wallets via Etherscan remain the most direct paths to new information as this situation develops.
