Blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence says the suspect behind the Bitget exploit has started shifting stolen funds across dozens of wallets.

Arkham Intelligence, a blockchain analytics platform, reported that the individual or group behind the Bitget exploit has begun moving stolen funds. The firm tracked $19.48 million shifted across 52 separate transfers. The transfers suggest an effort to fragment the funds before any further conversion or distribution.

Bitget is a major cryptocurrency exchange that has previously disclosed security incidents affecting user funds. When exchanges suffer breaches, stolen assets typically sit dormant in wallets for a period before attackers attempt to launder them. Analysts view transfer activity, especially split across many small transactions, as a signal that laundering has begun.

Arkham's tracking tools allow investigators and the public to follow wallet activity linked to known exploit addresses. By flagging the $19.48 million movement, the firm has given exchanges, law enforcement, and other blockchain monitors a basis to watch for further activity. Splitting large sums into dozens of transfers is a common tactic used to obscure the trail of stolen crypto.

Separately, Finbold reported that this activity may represent the opening stage of a much larger laundering operation. That report described the total loot connected to the Bitget exploit at $388 million. The two reports differ in scale, with one focused on the newly observed transfer total and the other framing it against the full amount believed to have been stolen.

Such discrepancies are not unusual in the early stages of tracking a crypto hack. Figures evolve as more wallets get linked to the same actor, and as exchanges and investigators corroborate on-chain data. The $19.48 million figure represents what has been directly observed moving so far, while the $388 million figure reflects a broader assessment of the exploit's total scope.

The case underscores a persistent weakness in cryptocurrency market structure. Custody of large reserves on centralized exchanges remains a target for sophisticated attackers. Even after a breach becomes public, tracing and recovering funds can take months, as stolen assets move through mixers, bridges, and multiple wallets before any potential recovery or freeze.

Bitget has not been quoted in the available reporting regarding this specific round of transfers. Readers should treat the $388 million figure as a reported estimate of the exploit's total scale, distinct from the confirmed $19.48 million movement tracked by Arkham.

Market Impact

News of renewed fund movement tied to a major exchange hack can weigh on sentiment toward the affected platform and the wider exchange sector. Traders and institutional custodians often watch such laundering activity closely, since it can signal when stolen assets might reach liquidity venues capable of converting them to fiat or other assets.

For Bitget specifically, continued attention to the exploit may renew scrutiny of its security practices and reserve transparency. Broader market impact tends to be limited unless laundered funds appear on major exchanges or decentralized platforms in volumes large enough to affect liquidity or pricing in the tokens involved.

As blockchain analysts continue tracking the Bitget hacker's wallet activity, further transfers are likely to draw additional scrutiny from exchanges and security researchers monitoring the case.
