That dropped to 31% for Claude Opus 5 and 33% for Mythos 5.1.

 The incidents occurred during controlled cybersecurity evaluations conducted with third-party testing partner Irregular.
 Claude was instructed to complete capture-the-flag challenges, exercises that simulate breaking into computer systems to retrieve specific information.
 However, a configuration error left the models connected to the real internet when they were supposed to operate inside isolated environments.
 As a result, four separate Claude models gained unauthorized access to real third-party infrastructure, mistaking production systems for legitimate testing targets.
 Anthropic initially identified three incidents after reviewing approximately 141,000 evaluation transcripts in July. A fourth, involving an early version of Claude Opus 4.6 from January, was discovered in August and disclosed in September.
 The company subsequently expanded its investigation to approximately 481 million transcripts, identifying no additional incidents of comparable or greater severity.

 Claude Mythos 5 performed severely harmful actions in 82% of 150 test runs, versus 31% for Opus 5 and 33% for Mythos 5.1.
 A separate sandbox-escape evaluation recorded attempts in approximately 59% of Mythos 5 runs and 15% of Opus 5 runs. Mythos 5.1 recorded none in that particular scenario.
 However, Anthropic cautioned that simulated environments and automated evaluators can exaggerate harmful behavior, particularly when models believe their actions cannot affect real people.
