What Does SLICE Reveal About the Future of Pi Launchpad?

Could a practice run decide how future Pi apps reach their users? That is the question behind Pi Launchpad, the Pi Network app where Pioneers test token launches using Test-Pi, a Testnet coin with no real value.
Pi has already run two test tokens, IRRA and SLICE. The second one added a liquidity pool, a price chart and a link to a working game. Many Pioneers are now asking what these tests mean and whether a Mainnet version is coming.
This guide breaks down how the platform works, what the SLICE test revealed, and which questions remain open. It sticks to official Pi Network sources and keeps predictions out.

What Is Pi Launchpad and Why Does It Matter?

Pi Launchpad is Pi Network's practice ground for launching ecosystem tokens. Pioneers use Test-Pi, a Testnet coin with no real value, to join mock token launches before any Mainnet version exists.
Two Pi Launchpad tests have run so far. The first token was IRRA. The second, SLICE, finished distribution in July 2026 and added a liquidity pool with a live price chart.
Why does this matter now? The design could shape how apps on the network attract users. Anyone following the wider Pi Network news cycle will see Launchpad updates sitting beside DEX and protocol changes. Information reflects official sources as of October 19, 2026.

How Does Pi Launchpad Work?

Theinitial Launchpad announcement describes ecosystem tokens as tools for user acquisition and product use. Projects issue them to bring in users. The tokens can then power access, payments, rewards and governance inside an app.
Here is the twist. The Pi raised in a launch does not go to the issuing project. It goes into a liquidity pool paired with the new token. A liquidity pool is a shared pot of two assets that lets people swap one for the other.
The project says this builds a liquidity base from day one. It also says the model targets utility, not capital raising. That is a stated goal, not a proven outcome.

What Is the Fair-Access Hold?

Pioneers open Pi Launchpad in the Pi Browser and choose how much Test-Pi to commit. The platform then calculates a fair-access hold from a fixed formula. This hold replaces what earlier flows called the stake or PiPower.
The Pi Launchpad hold aims to stop whales from crowding out smaller participants. Larger commitments need proportionally larger holds. The held Pi stays with the Pioneer and returns after the hold period. A guide on locked versus available Pi explains why held amounts can look different from spendable ones in a wallet.

What Is SLICE and What Was Tested?

SLICE is the second Testnet token on the platform. Pi released it on June 11, 2026 and kept it open until Pi2Day on June 28. It will never move to Mainnet.
The first test, IRRA, taught Pi plenty. Over 478,000 Pioneers staked 36.05 million Test-Pi, and over 198,000 committed 14.72 million. Many users struggled to see how staking and committing related. Some staked but never committed enough to join.
So SLICE tested fixes. Theupdated participation flow centers on one commitment amount and shows the hold and total before confirmation. Other changes include:

The hold-to-commit ratio follows a deterministic curve instead of shifting with participant behavior.

Engagement benefits appear as a percentage bonus on tokens received, not a price discount.

The detail view is one scrollable screen instead of three action pages.

The biggest change is the app link. SLICE connects to Slice of Pi, a Pi-integrated game, so engagement data comes from real use instead of a demo.

What Did the SLICE Test Reveal About Pi Launchpad?

The numbers moved up. Over 242,000 Pioneers committed 15.92 million Test-Pi toward 10 million $SLICE tokens. That is more participation than IRRA drew under the older flow, though the rules differed, so the comparison is loose.
Theofficial SLICE recap from July 24, 2026 adds a new feature. Pioneers can view their allocation, the launch and effective prices, and a chart tracking SLICE against Test-Pi.

How Does the SLICE Liquidity Pool Set the Price?

The pool holds $SLICE and Test-Pi. An automated market maker sets swap prices. That means a formula, not a person, decides the rate based on what the pool holds. The Pi DEX on Testnet also supports a traditional order book.
The formula multiplies the two reserves. That product stays constant during a swap, before fees.
Say a pool starts with 10 SLICE and 10 Test-Pi. The product is 100. If a Pioneer removes five SLICE, five remain. To keep the product at 100, the Test-Pi reserve must rise to 20. Buying pushes the displayed price up. Selling does the opposite.

Potential Benefits of Pi Launchpad for Pi Network Users

These Pi Launchpad benefits come from Pi's own statements, so they remain project claims until Mainnet results exist.

Learning without risk: Test-Pi lets Pioneers practice swaps, pools and automated pricing.

Transparent access: Pi describes the hold and commit design as meritocratic, with room for smaller participants.

Real product testing: Linking SLICE to a live game helps judge whether a token has genuine use.

Reach for builders: Pi says projects can reach a large global user base, many of them identity-verified.

For Pioneers, the draw of Pi Launchpad is early practice with token mechanics, without any cash at stake. For builders, it is a way to test demand before real money is involved.

What Challenges Could Affect Pi Launchpad Development?

Pi Launchpad testing is not the same as a live launch. Several points remain unproven:

No Mainnet date: Timing and token lists are unconfirmed.

Testnet prices are not market prices: They say little about any value debate, and a Pi coin price forecast built on Test-Pi charts would mislead.

Engagement bonuses are untested at scale: One game is a small sample.

Whale protection is a design goal: Real Mainnet results do not exist yet.

Many Pi Launchpad claims about utility and fair access also come from the project itself, not from independent audits. Presale-style language does not apply here, since Test-Pi carries no cash value.

What Could Come Next for Pi Launchpad?

No Mainnet launch date has been published. Pi says the test launches help refine the design first, and a third test token is possible, but nothing official confirms one.
The Pi DEX link matters here. Pi says a healthy exchange needs legitimate tokens with real utility and liquidity. In other words, Pi Launchpad and the DEX depend on each other. That fits with the Protocol 27 DEX changes covered earlier.
The bigger question is demand. Test tokens carry no financial risk, and Mainnet tokens will. Future token supply, circulating supply and market cap figures will matter, because a pool price alone says little about total valuation. The wider Pi Network roadmap review shows where these pieces sit.

Conclusion

Pi Launchpad is Pi Network's framework for launching app tokens that aim at users, not fundraising. IRRA exposed a confusing flow. SLICE answered with a single commitment, an automatic hold and a liquidity pool with price tracking.
What stands out about Pi Launchpad is the pace of iteration. What remains uncertain is the Mainnet timeline, the token lineup and how real money changes behavior. Official Pi Network posts remain the main place to confirm any change.
