Edmonton finished 2025-26 with 93 points and a playoff spot. Toronto stopped at 78 and missed out, and Vancouver collected only 58, last in the Pacific Division.
All three clubs changed coaches over the summer, and two replaced their general managers as well. Markets for the 2026-27 season, the first with 84 games per team, have priced each franchise very differently as a result.
Opening night on September 29 put both rivalries on show at once, with Montreal at Toronto and Vancouver at Edmonton.

Edmonton Chases Another Run Under Babcock

Edmonton fired Kris Knoblauch in May and hired Mike Babcock in June, keeping a core built around Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Futures books usually price the Oilers among the favourites in the Pacific Division.
Several markets follow that core closely:

Division winner and Stanley Cup outrights: prices hinge on Edmonton's health and goaltending through the winter

Player points props: McDavid and Draisaitl lines start high, often well above a point per game

Season point totals: an 84-game schedule lifts every team's line by roughly two points compared with an 82-game season

Coaching changes often shift team style, so early-season totals markets deserve a close look while books adjust. Goaltending adds another variable, since a hot or cold start between the pipes can move Edmonton's division price within a few weeks.

Toronto Rebuilds Its Front Office

Toronto replaced both its coach and general manager after a 78-point season, bringing in Jim Hiller behind the bench and John Chayka upstairs. Auston Matthews leads the attack, and highly rated prospect Gavin McKenna made his NHL debut with the club this autumn.
Leafs futures span wide ranges, since a new staff and a young debutant add uncertainty. Bettors often find value questions in season point totals, playoff qualification Yes or No markets and rookie award outrights, where a debut season can move prices sharply.
Toronto's Atlantic Division also holds Montreal and Ottawa, both playoff teams last season. Head-to-head games against them tend to attract heavy interest and tight lines.

Vancouver Starts a Reset Season

Vancouver's 58-point campaign ended with a new coach in Manny Malhotra and an internal promotion for Ryan Johnson as general manager. Markets treat the Canucks as a rebuilding side, with long outright prices and low season point totals.
Season-long markets reflect that outlook. Win totals start low, and books may list Vancouver among the likelier teams to finish last in the Pacific, a market that moves with every losing streak.
Rebuilding teams also create their own betting angles game to game. Underdog moneylines can offer value in individual games, especially at home, while puck lines of +1.5 goals cover any one-goal defeat, which matters in a league where many games stay close until late. Our comparison of licensed sportsbooks looks at how books price NHL games.

Canadian Matchups on the 84-Game Calendar

Expansion to 84 games adds two fixtures per team and lengthens the season to April 10, 2027. Canadian clubs meet several times, and those games often produce distinct pricing:

Rivalry pricing: books sometimes shade lines toward popular Canadian sides because of heavy local interest

Travel: western road trips through Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver can affect tired teams on back-to-back nights

Outdoor games: Winnipeg hosts Montreal in the Heritage Classic on October 25, where weather can shape scoring

Pre-game markets on these fixtures deserve comparison across books, and our ranking of sportsbooks on market depth shows how far hockey boards extend.
Access also varies by province. Ontario licenses operators through its own regulated market, while other provinces run lottery-backed sites, and our breakdown of provincial rules explains where crypto betting stands in each.

Two markets apply only to NHL games, penalty minutes and individual performance, which suit bettors who follow specific players.
Comeback markets and shot totals add further angles on Dexsport's board. Combo+ boosts accumulators of four legs or more, and Dexapp LTD operates the platform under an Anjouan licence.

Conclusion

Edmonton, Toronto and Vancouver enter 2026-27 from very different places: a 93-point playoff team under a new coach, a 78-point side with a rebuilt front office and a 58-point club starting a reset. Futures prices reflect those different expectations, from Pacific Division favourite to long-shot rebuild.
The 84-game schedule lifts every season total, while rivalry pricing, travel and outdoor games shape individual nights. Player props on stars such as McDavid and Matthews stay among the most active hockey markets.
