CRWV stock slips as bond yields rise

The latest decline followed a sharp fall in CoreWeave’s bonds. Its notes due in 2031 and 2032 recently yielded about 15% or more, compared with their original annual interest rates of 9.75% and 9.625%, respectively.

Bond yields rise when prices fall. Shares of Oracle, Nebius and Dell also declined on Wednesday as investors examined financing costs across technology companies that support artificial intelligence projects.

Elon Musk also responded to his bond discussion.
Debt and interest costs draw attention

CoreWeave’s June financial statements listed approximately $35.1 billion in borrowings and $16.3 billion in operating lease liabilities. Together, these obligations exceeded $51 billion, although lease commitments are not the same as borrowed money.

The company recorded $640 million in net interest expense during the second quarter, against approximately $267 million a year earlier. Revenue reached $2.58 billion, but CoreWeave posted a $626 million quarterly loss.

Other providers face scrutiny as they expand. A recent look at IREN’s cloud business described its growing infrastructure plans and an unconfirmed report about a possible Anthropic agreement.

CoreWeave defends its financing model

CoreWeave said its June revenue backlog totaled approximately $104 billion. Management maintains that customer contracts support its payment obligations and that its financing uses chips and related assets as security.

In March, CoreWeave announced an $8.5 billion financing facility that received investment-grade ratings. Its September investor presentation explained that certain loans are linked to customer contracts and drawn as equipment enters service.

Meanwhile, Evan reported on X that Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang saw no need to provide CoreWeave with financial support, while discussing its borrowing costs.

CRWV stock faced selling alongside related businesses. An October report on AI infrastructure shares documented declines in IREN and several mining companies as inflation data unsettled markets.
