Bitcoin‘s efforts to stabilize above $83,000 have come under renewed pressure due to a combination of rising US Treasury yields and growing outflows from spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds, which have curtailed investment demand for the cryptocurrency.

Equities outperform as crypto weakens

Recent trading sessions saw digital assets slide while US equities managed to advance, with stronger third-quarter earnings forecasts providing a lift to stock prices. The S&P 500 index rose 1.2% last week and the Nasdaq ticked up 0.2%, though gains were not universal as the Russell 2000 posted a 0.9% decline.

In contrast, Bitcoin fell 3.2% over the week, with Ethereum dropping 7% and altcoins losing 2.9%. Analysts linked the divergence in performance to equity investors’ confidence in upcoming earnings, while digital currencies suffered from waning investment flows.

The Federal Reserve’s September policy meeting minutes, released last week, indicated that most central bank officials still expect at least one additional interest-rate hike before year’s end, with little discussion of possible cuts. This stance contributed to a rise in Treasury yields and added further headwinds for risk-sensitive assets such as Bitcoin.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $679 million in net outflows last week, marking the highest weekly withdrawals since late June, coinciding with Bitcoin’s retreat from the $86,000–$87,000 range to a low near $80,400.

Despite recovering above $83,000 later in the week, Bitcoin has not shown evidence of a sustained rally back toward recent highs. Analysts cautioned that diminished investment flow support may continue to limit the cryptocurrency’s upside in the near term, even as equities enjoy ongoing support from corporate earnings optimism.

Macro focus: Yields, ETFs, and upcoming CPI report

Market participants pointed to the importance of stabilizing long-term US Treasury yields and a return to positive spot Bitcoin ETF flows as prerequisites for a significant Bitcoin recovery. Until these conditions are met, price movements are expected to remain sensitive to broader risk sentiment.

Attention is now turning to the September US Consumer Price Index report, set for release on Wednesday. Traders will monitor the data for signs that higher energy prices are impacting core inflation, which in turn could influence future Federal Reserve decisions and overall risk appetite.

With recent volatility, analysts warned that Bitcoin could remain reactive to macroeconomic signals, especially if Treasury yields stay elevated and ETF outflows persist.

Bitcoin technical view: Key moving averages hold

On Wednesday, Bitcoin traded near $83,480, holding above significant technical levels, including its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day exponential moving averages (EMAs). The 50-day EMA stands at $80,369, followed by the 100-day EMA at $76,641 and the 200-day EMA at $75,685.

Technical analysts observed that these averages now serve as key support levels for Bitcoin. Sustaining prices above them preserves the broader bullish structure, even if short-term corrections occur.

At the same time, momentum signals remain mixed. Bitcoin’s Relative Strength Index currently reads 53, showing modest buying momentum but no strong rally. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence line sits below zero at around -445.81, suggesting limited confirmation of accelerating demand.

Traders described the next resistance as the horizontal barrier around $85,000. A decisive break above this level could open the way for further gains, while failure to clear it may see Bitcoin consolidate or test support at the 50-day EMA.

Combined, the technical indicators suggest a constructive structure for Bitcoin, but with limited confirmation that renewed demand is yet driving a breakout toward recent highs.

Should a deeper pullback develop, the 100-day and 200-day EMAs at $76,641 and $75,685, respectively, would become the next supports to monitor for possible renewed buying interest.
