Apple introduced its Home Collection on Tuesday, expanding its smart home ecosystem with connected cameras, thermostats, smart locks, and sensors. The company partnered with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric to develop accessories compatible with its Home app. The collaboration strengthens Apple’s position in home automation while extending its hardware ecosystem beyond traditional personal devices.

The new lineup includes four LG cameras, offering indoor monitoring, outdoor security, package detection, and intelligent video recording. Each camera supports video resolution up to 2.5K and can identify people, pets, vehicles, and delivered packages. Furthermore, supported iCloud+ subscriptions provide encrypted video storage and access to ten days of recorded events.

Apple also introduced AI-powered video descriptions and natural language search capabilities for customers using eligible iCloud+ plans. These features allow users to locate specific recordings without manually reviewing extensive footage. Meanwhile, local storage supports continued recording during internet disruptions, improving reliability across connected home security systems.

Apple Introduces Smart Locks and Automated Climate Controls

LG’s new Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband technology to detect approaching users and automatically unlock compatible doors. Users can also manage access through Apple Watch, iPhone, PIN codes, or traditional backup keys. Additionally, the Home app allows households to provide temporary access to guests and receive door security notifications.

Apple expanded its climate control portfolio through new smart thermostats developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Both devices support automatic temperature adjustments based on household activity, occupancy, and daily routines. Moreover, compatible energy plans enable cleaner heating and cooling schedules while providing detailed household energy consumption insights.

The accessories support Matter and Thread connectivity, allowing customers to integrate different devices within one connected home system. Users can manage security cameras, temperature settings, and smart locks through Siri or the Home app. Furthermore, Apple designed the installation process around a single iPhone tap, removing separate application and account requirements.

Apple Sets December Launch for New Home Accessories

Apple plans to introduce its Home Collection in December, with additional accessories scheduled for early 2027. LG’s indoor camera starts at $199.95, while its outdoor camera starts at $299.95 in the United States. The video doorbell starts at $249.95, and the smart deadbolt lock carries a $349.95 starting price.

LG and Schneider Electric will offer smart thermostats starting at $199.95, with separate temperature sensors costing $39.95. Apple will distribute the accessories through its online store, retail locations, and Apple Store application. The company also plans professional installation services through ADT for American customers seeking additional setup assistance.

The launch builds on Apple’s existing support for thousands of Matter-certified and compatible third-party smart home products. Apple has previously integrated home controls across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and HomePod devices. The latest expansion adds dedicated security and climate products while strengthening its partnerships across the connected home market.
