Hedera

USDC

Hedera (HBAR) trades at around $0.094, or about 0.084 euros, early on Thursday morning, October 8, 2026 (according to CoinGecko). That leaves it roughly 10 percent lower over seven days, back exactly where it stood before the jump that followed the IBM news of September 28. The same week brings news from the body that runs the network: Hitachi no longer appears on the Hedera Council membership list. For the Hedera price prediction, what counts is which of this is sentiment and which touches the fundamentals of the network.

Hitachi Missing From the Hedera Council: What Is Established

The Hedera Council is the body that governs the network. Its members run the nodes Hedera operates on and vote on software updates. Every member has an equal vote and terms are limited, as the council sets out on its own website. That page currently lists 33 members, among them Google, IBM, Dell, Deutsche Telekom and LG. Hitachi is absent. An archived version of the same page from September 24 still had the company as one of 34 members.
Hitachi America joined in January 2024, announced in Davos. The aim at the time was to pilot first supply chain and sustainability applications on Hedera within a year, as set out in the announcement of the membership. Since October 1 the Hedera community has been circulating the claim that the membership ended on September 30. Neither Hitachi nor the council has published a reason.

What this means can be pinned down soberly. Technically, one member fewer changes little; the remaining members keep the network running. The signal weighs more. Hedera has marketed itself for years on the idea that large corporations govern the network together, and part of the valuation rests on that story. A departure without an explanation does not fit it, and it lands in a week when the price is already under pressure. Whether more comes of it depends on whether a new member steps in or others follow.

Hedera Price Prediction: the IBM Jump Has Gone

September 28 was the coin's strongest day in months. HBAR rose by roughly 27 percent to just under $0.13. That was driven by news that IBM had added IDTrust, the identity product of Swiss-based Hashgraph Group, to its cloud catalogue as a purchasable product. IDTrust anchors the identities of AI agents, devices and people on Hedera, as described in the announcement of September 23. The price handed back most of the gain the very next day, as we described on September 29. By now the jump is gone entirely: before the news HBAR closed at around $0.094 on September 27, and that is exactly where it stands again.
Over twelve months HBAR is down roughly 57 percent, while over 30 days it is up roughly 13 percent (CoinGecko). The price sits just above the 50-day moving average (around $0.0876) and the 200-day average (around $0.0885), both calculated from CoinMarketCap daily closes. The two lines are now only about 1 percent apart. If the shorter average crosses the longer one from below, many chart watchers read that as a sign of a turning trend. Whether it happens depends on the price staying above both lines.

Around $0.106 is the first level on the upside, the seven-day high set on October 2. From October 1 to 5 HBAR ran in a narrow band between about $0.100 and $0.106, and only broke out to the downside on Wednesday.
Around $0.122 and $0.13 are the levels above that: the close on the IBM day and the high HBAR reached that day.
Around $0.092 is the first level on the downside. That was where the low of the week sat on Wednesday evening.
Around $0.088 follows immediately below, where both moving averages run. Closes beneath that zone would call into question the advance since mid-September.
Around $0.072 is the deeper level, the low of September 16 from which the past weeks' advance started.

USDC on Hedera: $19 Million More in a Week

Away from the price there is one number pointing the other way. Hedera holds around $46 million in USDC, the Circle stablecoin, according to DefiLlama data. A week earlier it was roughly $27 million. The increase arrived in a single step on October 3; who supplied the funds has not been published.

For the HBAR price such an inflow is no direct driver. A transfer on Hedera costs fractions of a cent, so anyone sending USDC buys barely any HBAR for it. The inflow does show, though, that money is arriving on the network rather than leaving it. If the sum holds or grows, it supports the story of Hedera as a network for payments and enterprises. If it drains away as fast as it arrived, it was a single reallocation.

What to Check Before You Buy HBAR in Germany

Where you buy: buy HBAR only on a platform authorised under the EU's MiCA crypto regulation. Which exchanges hold that licence is shown in our comparison of regulated crypto exchanges.
Custody: Hedera is not an Ethereum network; HBAR runs on its own technology. Accounts there carry an identifier in the format 0.0.12345 rather than a conventional address, and many platforms additionally require a memo for deposits. Before every transfer, check that your wallet supports Hedera. Devices for holding coins yourself are in the hardware wallet comparison.
Leverage: trading HBAR with leverage amplifies the swings. A fall of roughly 10 percent in a week would already have wiped out a position with tenfold leverage.
Holding period: in Germany, gains on crypto assets are tax-free under section 23 of the income tax act once more than a year lies between purchase and sale. The federal finance ministry wants to change that: under the draft bill of September 30, 2026, purchases from January 1, 2027 would be taxed with no holding period, and the cabinet is to adopt the draft on October 14. Until a law is promulgated, today's rule applies. What the draft means for you is set out in our piece on the holding period before the cabinet. The simplest way to keep records of purchases and sales is one of the crypto tax tools from our comparison.

Hedera: What Matters in the Coming Weeks

First, the council. A new member would quickly defuse the signal of Hitachi's departure, while another exit would reinforce it. Second, the zone around $0.088, where both moving averages run. Closes above it keep the advance since mid-September intact; closes below open the way towards $0.072. Third, the amount of USDC on Hedera, which shows whether the new money stays.
Whether entering at the current price is worthwhile is weighed up in our analysis Is Hedera a good buy at current prices? Crypto assets swing sharply and a total loss is possible.
