Circle and SAP-backed Tereina announced a partnership on October 7, 2026, to embed USDC and EURC directly into SAP Cloud ERP workflows, making dollar- and euro-denominated stablecoin settlements available to eligible SAP customers through SAP Pay, an ecosystem the two companies say sits behind 84% of global commerce.

Circle and Tereina's enterprise payments partnership

The integration channels USDC toward eligible USD-denominated workflows and EURC toward euro-denominated activity, routing each stablecoin along its natural currency corridor rather than requiring enterprises to manage currency conversion as a separate step, according to Circle's official announcement. Tereina, which is backed by SAP, serves as the payments infrastructure layer connecting Circle's regulated stablecoins to SAP's enterprise software stack.
Circle co-founder, chairman and CEO Jeremy Allaire framed the deal as an infrastructure play rather than a consumer product launch. "Stablecoins are increasingly becoming a core infrastructure layer for global commerce. Working with Tereina to bring USDC and EURC into the applications that enterprises already use is an important step toward making internet-native money easier to integrate into everyday business operations," Allaire said.
How USDC and EURC fit enterprise payment workflows

USDC's role in the announcement

USDC, Circle's dollar-pegged stablecoin, is designated for USD-denominated enterprise workflows within the integration, providing a settlement rail that bypasses traditional correspondent banking delays for companies already operating inside SAP's ERP environment. USDC carries a market capitalization of approximately $73.62 billion as of October 7, 2026, reflecting the scale of dollar-denominated stablecoin demand that this enterprise channel is now positioned to serve.
EURC's role in the announcement

EURC, Circle's euro-denominated stablecoin, fills the parallel lane for euro-denominated corporate activity, making the integration relevant to European SAP customers and multinationals running dual-currency treasury operations. The explicit separation of USD and EUR stablecoin rails within a single enterprise ERP integration is notable; most prior stablecoin-enterprise pilots have focused solely on dollar settlement, as seen in the Lloyds and Visa USDC settlement pilot.

Why the Circle-Tereina tie-up matters for businesses

The strategic significance lies in the entry point: SAP Pay is an existing, trusted payment surface within SAP Cloud ERP, meaning eligible enterprises do not need to build separate blockchain integrations or onboard new vendor relationships to access stablecoin settlement. Tereina's positioning as an SAP-backed company reduces the procurement friction that has historically slowed enterprise crypto adoption, since SAP's own backing provides a compliance and vendor-trust signal that third-party crypto integrations typically lack.

For treasury and payments teams, the dual-currency design matters operationally. A European subsidiary of a US multinational running SAP could, in principle, route euro payables through EURC and dollar receivables through USDC within the same ERP environment, eliminating at least one layer of FX conversion from the settlement stack. Circle's release notes that USDC and EURC are issued by regulated Circle affiliates, which it links to its regulatory authorizations, providing the compliance anchor required for enterprise procurement sign-off.

The broader stablecoin-in-enterprise trend has been building across TradFi infrastructure, with institutions increasingly treating regulated stablecoins as settlement infrastructure rather than speculative assets. That trajectory has been reinforced by moves from institutional payments platforms expanding stablecoin-native services, even as regulatory frameworks in the US and EU continue to solidify.

What enterprises should watch next

Circle and Tereina plan joint proof-of-value customer programs, treasury and payments specialist training, and ecosystem-partner work over the coming months, per the Business Wire syndication of the announcement. Those proof-of-value programs are the concrete next trigger: their outcomes will determine whether the integration scales beyond early adopters and whether SAP's stated 84% commerce-ecosystem claim translates into actual stablecoin settlement volume.

What the announcement confirms and what it does not

Confirmed: the partnership exists, USDC and EURC are the designated stablecoins, SAP Cloud ERP and SAP Pay are the integration surfaces, and both CEOs are named as principals. The announcement does not disclose a production launch date, identify any named enterprise customers, or provide transaction volume targets. No live deployment metrics have been published, and the proof-of-value programs are described as planned rather than underway.

The absence of named customers is standard for enterprise software pre-launch announcements, but it means the integration's real-world scale cannot be independently verified at this stage. Observers tracking stablecoin enterprise adoption, including developments like USDC-denominated reserve income flows emerging across crypto-native platforms, will need to wait for proof-of-value program disclosures before assessing whether Circle and Tereina's SAP pipeline converts announced potential into measurable settlement activity.
