MEXC and Payward announced in a <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/mexc-and-payward-signal-intent-to-explore-broader-collaboration-ahead-of-token2049-302898289.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">press release distributed October 5, 2026</a> that the two exchanges are exploring how they might work more closely together to serve users across evolving global crypto and traditional finance markets.
The announcement centers on an upcoming panel discussion at TOKEN2049 Singapore on October 7, where MEXC CEO Vugar Usi Zade and Payward Co-CEO Arjun Sethi are scheduled to discuss the potential collaboration alongside broader industry trends, including how exchanges are expanding user access to both crypto and traditional markets, the growing role of artificial intelligence in trading, and emerging social trading features. The companies described the collaboration as exploratory at this stage, with no binding partnership agreement or specific product integration disclosed alongside the announcement.
MEXC and Payward framed their potential collaboration around complementary strengths rather than overlapping businesses. MEXC emphasized its retail trading experience and its position in crypto-to-traditional-finance perpetual trading products, an area where the exchange has built a significant user base among active derivatives traders. Payward, meanwhile, brings globally compliant infrastructure and a strong US regulatory footprint through Kraken, positioning it as a counterpart with deeper institutional and compliance credibility in markets where MEXC has historically had less direct presence.
The announcement reflects a broader trend of exchanges exploring strategic partnerships rather than purely competing head-to-head, as the industry’s growth areas increasingly span infrastructure, liquidity provision, and cross-platform user experience rather than simply user acquisition within a single exchange’s walled garden. Panel appearances and public signals of exploratory collaboration at major industry conferences such as TOKEN2049 have become a common way for exchanges to test market and partner reaction to potential tie-ups before committing to formal agreements.
For MEXC, deepening ties with an exchange carrying Payward’s compliance infrastructure could support its own ambitions to expand further into regulated markets, while for Payward, closer collaboration with MEXC offers a path to broader retail reach in markets where MEXC already has substantial user bases. Whether the exploratory discussion translates into a concrete partnership will likely depend on what, if anything, emerges from the October 7 TOKEN2049 panel and any follow-up announcements from either exchange in the weeks after the conference.
