The Stockdrop arrives against the backdrop of a significant supply milestone. <cite>Over 7.2 million $INJ, worth approximately $55.5 million, has been burned to date through the protocol's buyback and burn program.</cite>
The broader burn history reflects a program that has grown steadily since launch. <cite>Before the monthly Community BuyBack rounds began, Injective ran a burn auction that removed 6.78 million $INJ from circulation, representing roughly 7% of total supply, worth about $32 million at the time.</cite><cite>Across the first four monthly Community BuyBack rounds, an additional 178,338 $INJ was burned, with over $776,000 in rewards distributed and an average participant return of around 23.9% per round.</cite>
<cite>The mechanism works by allocating a portion of revenue generated by dApps on the Injective network to a buyback fund, using it to purchase $INJ on the open market, and then permanently burning the acquired tokens to reduce circulating supply.</cite> The Stockdrop adds tokenized stock distributions on top of that existing structure, giving participants a third potential reward stream alongside ecosystem revenue and deflationary exposure.
