TOTAL2 has broken above a multi-year downtrend, putting renewed attention on the altcoin market as September comes to an end. The shift is being observed due to previous market conditions where significant growth of altcoins was seen in 2016 and 2020. The TOTAL2 index is used to measure the market capitalization of all cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin.

Its recent breakout from a long-term descending trendline has changed the broader market structure, although confirmation remains important before calling a sustained altcoin cycle. If TOTAL2 holds the reclaimed trendline, attention could remain focused on whether altcoins continue gaining market share. A failed retest, however, could send the index back toward its previous range and delay a wider rotation.

Sui Builds Around High-Speed Applications

Sui has continued developing as a Layer-1 network focused on fast transactions and decentralized applications. Its ecosystem includes decentralized finance, gaming, and other applications that require high transaction capacity.

The network's performance during an expanding altcoin market could depend on ecosystem activity, liquidity, and continued user growth. Traders are also likely to monitor whether SUI can maintain strength if TOTAL2 continues its recovery.

Pump.fun Remains Tied to Solana Activity

Pump.fun operates within the Solana ecosystem and has become closely associated with the creation and trading of meme tokens. Its activity provides an indication of speculative demand across parts of the Solana market.

PUMP could therefore remain sensitive to changes in trading volumes and user activity. A broader return of liquidity to altcoins could increase activity, while weaker market conditions could have the opposite effect.

Raydium Tracks Solana DeFi Growth

Raydium is a decentralized exchange and liquidity protocol operating on Solana. Its relevance is closely connected to trading activity, liquidity, and token launches across the network. As capital moves between Solana-based assets, Raydium's activity can provide another measure of demand within the ecosystem. Its performance could therefore remain linked to both SOL and broader DeFi participation.

Solana Remains a Major Layer-1

Solana is one of the biggest Layer-1 blockchain networks with decentralized applications, DeFi protocols, and token markets. It has a proven track record, providing exposure to multiple areas of the crypto market through its ecosystem. If the crypto market for altcoins grows, that token may still be under close surveillance, especially after liquidity returns to the more substantial blockchain markets.

Ethena Adds a DeFi and Stablecoin Narrative

Ethena focuses on synthetic-dollar infrastructure through its USDe ecosystem. The project has attracted attention around decentralized finance, yield generation, and crypto-native stablecoin structures.

ENA's market performance can therefore be influenced by DeFi activity, demand for synthetic dollars, and changes in liquidity across the wider crypto market. With TOTAL2 now undergoing a key retest, these five altcoins represent different parts of the market, including Layer-1 networks, DeFi, and speculative trading activity.
