Token Unlocks in October 2026: What Should Traders Watch?

Big supply events are lining up this month, and if you hold or trade any of these tokens, you need to know the dates. This guide covers Token Unlocks in October, why they matter, and breaks down the seven largest releases with their exact values, so you are not caught off guard by sudden new supply hitting the market.
Key Takeaways

Seven tokens are releasing a combined value of roughly $470 million in October, led by BTW at $137.70M.

2Z carries the highest unlock relative to its market cap at 46.8%, the steepest dilution risk on this list.

Dates are spread across the whole month, from October 1 through October 21, so the pressure is not all on one day.

What Are Crypto Token Unlocks?

A token unlock is when previously locked tokens become available to trade. Most crypto projects lock a portion of supply for the team, early investors and ecosystem funds at launch. This is normal practice, not a red flag by itself. Those tokens sit in a vesting contract and get released later, based on a schedule the project publishes upfront.
The reason people track a crypto unlock so closely is simple: new supply hitting the market can pressure price, especially if the unlock is large relative to how many tokens are already circulating.

How Does a Token Unlock Work?

Every unlock follows a vesting schedule set at launch. There are two common structures.
A cliff unlock releases one large batch of tokens on a single date, after a lock period ends. This is where most of the volatility comes from because the whole amount becomes tradable at once.
A linear unlock spreads the release across smaller amounts, often monthly, over several years. It is gentler on the market because the same small unlock repeats on a fixed schedule instead of arriving as one shock.
Most projects run a token release through a mix of both. A cliff opens the first chunk, and linear vesting handles the rest gradually. Knowing which type applies to a token tells you whether to expect a sudden supply jump or a slow, steady one.

Together, these seven make up close to $470 million in fresh supply hitting the market across a single month. 2Z stands out because its unlock covers Jump Crypto, Malbec Labs, institutions, team, contributors and builders allocations opening for the first time after the cliff, which explains why it carries the largest unlock relative to its size.

BTW (Bitway)is the largest exchange-linked token on this list by unlock value, though at 3.75% of its market cap, the release is fairly small relative to its size.
2Z (DoubleZero) is a newer network token where this unlock opens allocations for investors, team and builders for the first time, making it the riskiest release on the list by percentage.
AKE (Akedo Games) ties back to the AI gaming project covered earlier in this series, where token holders fund and interact with AI-driven game creation.
ADI (ADI Chain) has the smallest circulating supply released so far among these seven, so this unlock is one of many still to come over a longer vesting runway.
ZRO (LayerZero) is the token behind a cross-chain messaging protocol, and with 66.1% of supply already out, this release adds to an already largely circulating token.
PUMP (pump.fun) belongs to the well-known Solana memecoin launchpad, and since over three-quarters of its supply is already unlocked, this release is a smaller piece of its overall dilution story.
FF (Falcon Finance) opens the month's schedule on October 1, and its unlock represents just over 6% of its current market cap.

ADI has the most supply still locked at 84%, so its unlock pace matters more over the long run than any single month. PUMP, on the other hand, already has most of its supply out, so this particular release is a smaller piece of a much bigger picture.

Crypto Unlock Schedule October 2026: Spread Across the Month

Tokens unlocking in October 2026 are not bunched on one date, which spreads out potential selling pressure. FF opens the month on October 1, BTW and 2Z follow close behind on October 2, ADI lands mid-month on October 9, PUMP arrives October 14, and ZRO and AKE close out the schedule on October 20 and 21. Anyone following the upcoming token unlocks October 2026 calendar should mark these dates individually rather than treating the month as one event.

Common Risks Around Token Unlocks

Sell pressure. Investors and team members who receive unlocked tokens sometimes sell a portion immediately, which can push price down.

High dilution unlocks. A release like 2Z's, at close to half its market cap, carries more risk than a small monthly linear release.

Pre-unlock positioning. Traders often position ahead of a known date, which can move price before the unlock even happens.

Market conditions matter. The same unlock can be absorbed calmly in a strong market and hit harder in a weak one.

Recurring unlocks compound. A token that unlocks monthly adds up over time, even if no single release looks alarming on its own.

None of this means an unlock automatically causes a crash. It simply means more supply is entering the market, and how the market absorbs it depends on demand at that moment.

How to Track Token Unlocks This Month

Check a dedicated unlock tracker for the exact date and time of each release, since schedules can shift slightly.

Compare the unlock value to the token's daily trading volume, not just its market cap.

Note whether the release is a cliff or linear unlock, since that changes how sudden the impact might be.

Watch the days just before and after the date, since price often moves on positioning rather than the unlock itself.

Set a reminder for major crypto token unlocks this month so you are not checking manually every day.

Conclusion

Top Token unlocks in October 2026 bring close to $470 million in new supply across just seven tokens, led by BTW, 2Z and AKE. Some of these carry heavier dilution risk than others, so checking the percentage of market cap involved matters more than the headline dollar figure. Track the dates, watch trading volume around each release, and treat every unlock as one input, not the whole picture.
