Something odd is happening to SEI right now. Just as REX Shares and Osprey Funds push a new Sei crypto ETF filing toward the finish line, the token's price is falling instead of climbing. You'd expect Exchange Traded Funds news to lift a coin, not sink it. But that's the puzzle holders are staring at today.

REX Shares and Osprey Funds have submitted an updated filing for their staked ETF with the SEC. Both firms have set October 23, 2026 as the official effective date for a group of altcoin Exchange Traded Funds. This isn't a standalone product. It sits inside a wider filing that groups several tokens together, which tells you issuers are betting on staking demand across the board, not just for one coin.

The registration gives spot exposure to SUI, NEAR, AVAX, ATOM, and ADA, each with built in staking so holders can earn yield instead of just holding a static price-tracking product. It also covers an AAVE and a HYPE plus Staking ETF, rounding out eight assets in total.

Why Is SEI Price Down Today Despite the ETF News?

Here's the strange part. As per CoinGecko data, SEI price today sits at $0.07438, down 8.5%, after slipping from the $0.83 to $0.73 range. Market cap sits at $499.573M, and 24 hour trading volume is $175.775M.

So even with a Sei crypto ETF moving through the SEC, traders are selling first and asking questions later. This kind of gap, where regulatory progress rises but price falls, usually points to short term profit booking rather than any change in the project's long term standing.
Traders often price in Exchange Traded Fund news well before the effective date, then sell once the announcement itself is out.

Will SEI Price Recover From This Crash?

There's a reason to stay hopeful. Dinari Global says tokenized S&P 500 stocks for U.S. investors are coming to it. Its dShares trade from self custody wallets using USDC, and each one is backed by a real asset, meaning holders aren't just trading a synthetic price feed.
it is being built for onchain equities, positioning it as infrastructure for real world assets rather than just another altcoin. Paired with the pending filing and its October 23 effective date, this could give it a path back up, though nothing about that recovery is guaranteed.

What Next for the Sei Crypto ETF Race?

On September 20, Canary Capital filed Amendment No. 2 to its S-1 form with the SEC, covering a staked service. This isn't new ground for Canary. On September 10, it began offering Tron TRX ETFs, and this filing follows as its next move.
Crypto ETF news today shows this market is growing fast, one filing at a time.
Expert Opinion: Analysts note that a widening gap between filing progress and spot price often points to short term profit booking rather than a shift in long term direction for it.

Conclusion

SEI is crashing hard today even as REX Shares, Osprey Funds, and Canary Capital push staked filings forward. The Dinari tokenized equity news adds a bright spot. Whether it recovers may depend on how October 23 plays out.
