On September 23, the token momentarily exceeded the $97 threshold. At press time, HYPE is trading near the $92.74 mark.

This upward momentum has been fueled by several converging elements. The platform’s continuous token repurchase and destruction program, combined with consistent capital deployment from both retail traders and institutional participants, has provided substantial support.

To date, Hyperliquid has destroyed more than 48.86 million HYPE tokens. At prevailing market valuations, this represents over $4.76 billion in value, effectively reducing the circulating token supply.

Major Holder Accumulation and Institutional Participation

Significant wallet addresses have demonstrated considerable activity throughout this price advance. According to Arkham Intelligence data, one particular wallet acquired an additional 373,730 HYPE tokens, valued at approximately $36 million.

This transaction elevated the wallet’s aggregate holdings to roughly 4.7 million tokens, representing a total value approaching $400 million. The accumulation pattern has unfolded over a thirty-day period.

Institutional market participants have similarly expanded their positions. Hyperliquid Strategies currently maintains ownership of 33.60 million HYPE, valued at $3.20 billion. This represents approximately 15% of tokens in circulation and 3% of the maximum token supply.

Platform open interest climbed to an unprecedented $18 billion coinciding with the price surge. Market analyst account Rand Group documented this achievement, noting that “$HYPE just hit a new Open Interest record crossing the $18B mark,” while questioning whether the asset could breach the $100 threshold following the whale’s substantial $36 million acquisition and whether market participants should anticipate a retracement or further appreciation.

However, not all market activity has been directionally bullish. Certain institutional entities have begun liquidating positions. Onchain Lens documented that market maker Wintermute commenced transferring tokens to prominent centralized trading platforms, a behavior frequently associated with profit realization.

Technical chart analysis reveals HYPE maintaining respect for an ascending trendline, which has provided support on four distinct occasions. The MACD indicator continues displaying bullish characteristics, although momentum histogram bars are contracting.

Should the price experience a retracement, market participants are monitoring support zones at $88, $75, and $70. A substantial concentration of short positions is currently defending the psychological $100 threshold.

Liquidation metrics from CoinGlass indicate more than $2.91 million in leveraged positions positioned above current valuations, concentrated near $98.48. Below the current price action, approximately $3.39 million in leverage exists near the $94.66 level.

In parallel developments, the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs) within United States markets has accelerated. CFTC Chairman Michael Selig announced this week that the regulatory body is establishing frameworks for tokenization adoption and continuous 24/7 market operations.
