The Fed raised rates by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4% on September 16, 2026.

APT, DOGE, XRP, DOT, and RENDER remain among the altcoins being monitored amid changing risk appetite.

Future crypto market direction could remain sensitive to inflation, liquidity, oil prices, and additional Fed decisions.

The Federal Reserve’s latest interest-rate decision has placed crypto markets under renewed pressure, leaving traders focused on how higher borrowing costs could affect risk assets. The decision was approved unanimously, while inflation was described as remaining elevated and economic activity was reported to be expanding at a solid pace.

The rate increase has changed the broader market environment because higher interest rates can make cash and fixed-income assets relatively more attractive while increasing the cost of capital. Crypto has also remained sensitive to changes in liquidity, Treasury yields, and expectations for additional monetary tightening.

The reaction has not been uniform, however, and the next phase could depend heavily on inflation data, oil prices, employment conditions, and further signals from the Federal Reserve. Recent market reporting has indicated that traders are already assessing the possibility of another rate increase, keeping monetary policy among the major factors being watched across digital assets.

XRP Keeps Institutional Developments in Focus

XRP remains one of the larger assets being monitored within the altcoin market. Recent developments have included partnerships involving digital-asset custody and tokenized asset management, while XRP funds had previously recorded a prolonged period of inflows before that trend ended in September. These developments have kept institutional activity relevant to the token's market narrative.

Dogecoin Remains Closely Tied to Market Sentiment

Dogecoin continues to attract attention because of its high liquidity and strong connection with broader retail trading activity. Following the Fed decision, DOGE was among the major altcoins that moved higher during the subsequent recovery, according to market data reported by CoinDesk. Its performance remains closely linked to overall risk appetite and movements across the wider crypto market.

Polkadot is another altcoin being watched as traders reassess exposure to higher-risk digital assets. DOT's performance can be affected by changes in market liquidity, Bitcoin's direction, and the strength of capital rotation toward alternative cryptocurrencies. The current rate environment therefore remains an important backdrop for its market activity.

Aptos Shows Relative Activity Among Altcoins

Aptos has recently displayed notable activity compared with several other large cryptocurrencies. Continued participation from traders could keep APT on watch as market liquidity develops.

Render Remains Exposed to Risk Appetite

Render is also being monitored within the broader group of technology-focused crypto assets. Its market performance remains sensitive to changes in speculative demand, liquidity conditions, and sentiment toward blockchain-related technology. A sustained shift toward altcoins could therefore influence trading activity around RENDER.

For now, the Fed's rate path remains one of the key variables for crypto markets. With inflation still above the central bank's 2% goal and further policy changes being considered, altcoins may continue to experience sharp moves as traders adjust to changing liquidity conditions.
