<p>Midnight smart contracts are moving closer to deployment on mainnet, according to Cardano news from top developer Sebastien Guillemot. At the same time, Charles Hoskinson also pointed to upcoming RealFi and a major Midnight upgrade.</p>

<p>Cardano developer <a href="https://x.com/SebastienGllmt/status/2101183752991088907" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Sebastien Guillemot</a> has confirmed that Midnight smart contracts are expected to be enabled on the Midnight mainnet soon.</p>
<p>Guillemot shared the update while highlighting what the change could bring to the network. He said he was excited about private smart contracts, including the ability to mint private custom tokens.</p>
<p>The update is important for Midnight because smart contracts would enable developers to build applications that leverage the network’s privacy features. Guillemot also thanked the builders who helped bring the network to this stage.</p>

<p>Guillemot’s comments come as attention around Midnight continues to grow within the Cardano community. Midnight is designed around privacy, and the planned smart contract functionality could give developers more ways to build applications on the network.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, another community member, Jeff Papineau, called for a major application to help drive adoption. He specifically asked about a Midnight-based decentralized exchange where users could sell BTC and ETH and receive USDCx.</p>
<p>Papineau also suggested that BTC could be used for liquidity and fees on such an application. He argued that having such a product could help increase activity on the network.</p>

<p>His response also touched on funding within the Cardano community. Hoskinson said the community had refused to fund Pogen, Blockfrost, and other IOG commercial projects. He also claimed that the Cardano Foundation has not been mentioning Midnight.</p>

At the time the data was shared, NIGHT was trading at $0.02437, up 5.18% over 24 hours. The token had a market capitalization of about $404.75 million, while its 24-hour trading volume stood at $19.47 million.</p>
<p>The data also showed an unlocked market capitalization of about $405.14 million and a fully diluted valuation of $584.92 million. Midnight has a total and maximum supply of 24 billion NIGHT tokens, with about 16.6 billion in circulation. The number of holders stood at about 14,190.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the NIGHT token’s 24-hour trading volume rose 27.35%, according to the figures provided. The price movement does not by itself establish what NIGHT will do next. Instead, the latest figures show increased market activity around the token as development updates emerge from the Midnight and Cardano ecosystems.</p>
