Ether.fi's governance token ETHFI traded at $0.666627 with a rolling 24-hour decline of roughly 9.88% as of 08:58 UTC on September 13, 2026, sinking far below the shallower pullbacks in Bitcoin and Ether over the same window, even as no verified same-day catalyst has surfaced to explain the selloff.
The move stands out because ETHFI fell many times harder than the majors, yet the available evidence documents the direction of the decline without establishing its cause. What follows separates the confirmed price action from the unproven explanations, using the market snapshot and the most recent dated coverage on the token. ETHFI changed hands at $0.666627, down about 9.88% over the trailing 24 hours as measured at 08:58:10 UTC on September 13, 2026. This is a rolling 24-hour return rather than a calendar-day close, and the quote currency is USD. At the same snapshot the token carried a market capitalization near $643.6 million on rolling 24-hour trading volume of roughly $85.2 million, turnover that quantifies activity but does not, on its own, identify net selling or seller motives. One caveat on freshness matters for readers cross-checking quotes: Coincu's supplied coin page displayed $0.7016 and a positive 0.86% reading but was timestamped September 11, 2026, 16:08:10 UTC, meaning it captured the prior session rather than today's decline.
What Could Be Driving ETHFI Selling Pressure?

No dated token unlock, verified exchange outflow, whale sale, liquidation record, or buyback execution has been confirmed for the September 13 window. On that evidentiary basis the specific trigger for the drop remains unresolved rather than attributable to a single cause.
The most recent dated coverage, an AMBCrypto report updated September 11, documented that ETHFI had climbed 10% on the day, printed an intraday high of $0.7232, then met rejection within the $0.695 to $0.735 band, according to that report. Those are historical observations from two days earlier, not live September 13 levels.
That same report, written by an analyst using their own technical framework, identified $0.641 as the prior breakout level and $0.735 as the overhead barrier the token failed to clear. A profit-taking unwind after that rejected rally is plausible but, according to unconfirmed reports, remains a hypothesis the September 11 article does not extend to seller behavior on September 13.
Ether.fi's recent product history is background, not a bearish trigger. Its August 13 Summer release introduced tokenized stocks via xStocks and an integrated Aave lending market on Optimism, while an August 6 update described a protocol-hardening phase of thirteen upgrades with weETH/USDC and weETH/USDT markets live at 86% loan-to-value, per ether.fi's token page, which describes ETHFI as the governance token whose staking can unlock membership tiers without lockups. Both concern product and weETH mechanics rather than ETHFI spot performance, and neither is dated to today.
A cashback redesign said to be funded by programmatic ETHFI buybacks has circulated only in RSS headlines, with no original announcement or execution record to support it as today's catalyst. Ether.fi's governance record does include prior buyback activity, from a proposed $50M ETHFI buyback to a $7.1M buyback the foundation later executed, but neither is dated to this session.

Is ETHFI Falling With Ethereum and the Wider Crypto Market?

The decline is disproportionately ETHFI-specific. Over the identical window Bitcoin traded at $76,756, down about 0.76%, while Ether sat at $2,493.46, down roughly 1.54%.
That leaves ETHFI underperforming BTC by more than nine percentage points and ETH by more than eight percentage points on the same 24-hour clock. Such a gap points to token-specific weakness layered on a mildly negative tape rather than a broad market rout, though correlation here is context rather than proof of causation.
Sentiment offers no confirmation of panic. The broad Fear & Greed Index read 61, or "Greed," as of 00:00 UTC on September 13, a market-wide gauge that is not ETHFI-specific and does not evidence forced selling in this name. Readers tracking sharp single-token repricings can compare the pattern with names such as Jupiter.

What Should ETHFI Holders Watch Next?

The clearest near-term references come from the September 11 technical map: whether ETHFI holds above the cited $0.641 breakout level, and whether it can reclaim the $0.695 to $0.735 band that capped the prior rally. Both are that analyst's markers and warrant re-verification against live charts.
Beyond price, the unresolved questions are evidentiary. A dated ether.fi announcement, an on-chain unlock or exchange-flow record, or a confirmed buyback execution would each convert one of today's candidate explanations into a documented cause; absent those, the drop stays classified as an unexplained move on elevated relative weakness.
Volume is the other tell. A follow-through session on turnover materially above the $85.2 million snapshot would suggest continuation, whereas a contraction back toward the prior range would be more consistent with a one-off unwind.

Frequently Asked Questions About ETHFI's Price Decline

Why is ETHFI price down today? ETHFI fell about 9.88% to $0.666627 over the 24 hours ending 08:58 UTC on September 13, 2026, but no verified same-day catalyst, unlock, or protocol event explains the move; a post-rally unwind after the September 11 rejection near $0.735 is the leading unconfirmed hypothesis.
Is ETHFI falling more than Ethereum? Yes. Over the same window ETH was down roughly 1.54% and BTC about 0.76%, leaving ETHFI underperforming both by more than eight percentage points, which points to token-specific weakness rather than a market-wide selloff.
Can ETHFI recover after today's decline? Any recovery is uncertain and conditional on the signals above, principally whether ETHFI holds the cited $0.641 level, reclaims the $0.695 to $0.735 band, and sees volume stabilize; no rebound date or price target is supported by the current evidence.
