ChipMango, an AI-native semiconductor technology company, has raised a $1.9 million funding round to expand its engineering and product-development capacity, support new commercial design engagements, and scale its AI-native learning and workforce platform across Africa, the United States and Europe.Atlantica Ventures led the funding round. Other participants include DFS, Kaleo Ventures, Madica, Trilinear Technologies, Malta Ventures and other strategic investors.The development marks a significant push for <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ChipMango</a> in its tech-for-talent drive in Africa. It comes at a time when AI is increasing demand for semiconductor engineers and intelligent hardware, while advanced chip-design capacity remains concentrated in relatively few regions.Industry research by Deloitte estimates that the global tech industry must add one million skilled workers by 2030, more than 100,000 each year, as annual semiconductor revenue approaches $1 trillion.<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img width="695" height="623" src="https://technext24.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Founder_ChipMango.jpg" alt="Founder_ChipMango" class="wp-image-290103"><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"> Ola Fadiran </figcaption></figure>Reacting to the fundraising and expansion ambition, ChipMango founder and CEO Ola Fadiran noted that the next era of AI will not be defined by software alone but by who can design the chips, systems and intelligent hardware that power it.&nbsp;“ChipMango is expanding access to those capabilities so more regions can help build the technologies shaping the future,” he added.&nbsp;As a result of chip shortages, global smartphone shipments are expected to <a href="https://technext24.com/news/global-smartphone-shipments-to-fall-2026/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">decline by 12.2% year-on-year (YoY) in 2026</a>, representing a 152 million-unit drop from 1.246 billion units recorded in 2025 to 1.093 billion units.The drop was supported by an average DRAM and NAND flash memory price, which rose by more than 80% quarter-on-quarter in Q1 2026, with more hikes and shortages expected through the second half of 2026. Also, the average selling price of a smartphone is expected to jump from $467 in 2025 to $565 in 2026.ChipMango aims to bridge the memory supply gap by training young talents and equipping engineers with the resources needed to scale.<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img width="946" height="610" src="https://technext24.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/ChipMango-1.jpg" alt="ChipMango " class="wp-image-290101"></figure>ChipMango plans to establish a European Design Centre in Malta with Malta Ventures. Expanding its footprint to Africa helps supply chips at lower prices for data centres, smartphones and other devices.For a while, Africa’s tech ecosystem has largely depended on software development for its fintech, e-commerce, logistics, and data centres. The core chip infrastructure and software rest on hardware designed and manufactured in East Asia and the United States.The company’s expansion into Africa could mark another major development for the continent’s technology ecosystem.Aside from building talent, the focus is to position African engineers to work on global commercial design engagements for clients outside Africa, such as North and South America, Europe, and Asia.&nbsp;<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img width="973" height="544" src="https://technext24.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/Nigeian-Youth.jpg" alt="Nigeian Youths" class="wp-image-258961"></figure>“Building the skills needed to support the future of computing is critical to the continued growth of the semiconductor industry,” said Matt Rushton, Director, Product Management, Training Services at Arm.Crediting the impact of the latest investment, ChipMango co-founder and COO Jovan Andjelich said the funding gives ChipMango the foundation for its next phase of growth.&nbsp;“We will expand engineering capability, deepen industry and academic partnerships, and create opportunities for exceptional engineers to contribute to cutting-edge semiconductor and AI programs while delivering measurable value for customers.”
