The digital-asset platform's new funding round pushes its valuation to $1 billion.

Fasset has closed a $68 million Series C funding round, according to reports from Fintech News Singapore, CoinTurk News, and The Cryptonomist. The round was led by SBI Group, a major Japanese financial services conglomerate with a long-standing presence in digital assets. The investment values Fasset at $1 billion, granting the company unicorn status.

Unicorn status is reserved for privately held startups valued at $1 billion or more. Reaching that threshold places Fasset among a small group of companies in the digital-asset sector to achieve the milestone. It also signals continued investor appetite for platforms working at the intersection of traditional finance and blockchain-based asset management.

Fasset operates in the space of digital-asset infrastructure, with a focus that has included tokenization of real-world assets. Tokenization refers to representing ownership of physical or financial assets on a blockchain. Proponents argue this can improve liquidity, custody, and access to markets that have traditionally been harder to reach, particularly in emerging economies.

SBI Group's decision to lead the round is notable given its scale and reach across banking, securities, and crypto-related ventures in Asia. SBI has been an active investor in digital-asset companies for years, and its participation often signals a degree of institutional confidence in a company's business model and growth trajectory.

The $68 million raised in this Series C round will likely support Fasset's expansion plans, though specific allocation details were not disclosed in the reports. Series C rounds typically fund scaling efforts, including market expansion, product development, and regulatory compliance work, especially for companies operating across multiple jurisdictions.

The timing of the announcement comes amid a broader wave of institutional interest in tokenization and digital-asset infrastructure. Traditional financial institutions have increasingly explored blockchain-based systems for custody, settlement, and asset issuance over the past two years. A funding round of this size, led by an established financial group, adds to that pattern of convergence between conventional finance and crypto-native platforms.

While the reports confirm the funding amount, lead investor, and resulting valuation, they do not detail the full list of participating investors or the specific terms of the deal. Further disclosures from Fasset or SBI Group may clarify additional aspects of the transaction in the coming weeks.

Market Impact

A $1 billion valuation for a digital-asset platform focused on tokenization could reinforce investor confidence in the broader real-world asset sector. Institutional-led rounds of this size are often viewed as validation for business models that rely on bridging traditional finance with blockchain infrastructure.

SBI Group's involvement may also encourage other established financial institutions to explore similar partnerships or investments in tokenization platforms. This could accelerate capital flow into the sector, particularly for companies targeting emerging markets where access to traditional financial products has historically been limited.

Fasset's new unicorn status reflects growing institutional interest in tokenization and digital-asset infrastructure. Additional details on the round's participants and Fasset's expansion plans may emerge as the company and its investors provide further updates.
