<p>US spot Bitcoin (<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/" rel="noopener noreferrer">BTC</a>) exchange-traded funds (<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/glossary/bitcoin-etf" rel="noopener noreferrer">ETFs</a>) recorded $189.3 million in net inflows on Aug. 19, pushing total August net inflows to approximately $951 million, according to SoSoValue data. The gains followed $297.6 million in net inflows the previous day, bringing the two-day total to $487 million.</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/5db9d96a31ac4b0c80507b7b0f7342c9.png"><p>BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust <a href="https://sosovalue.com/ja/assets/etf/us-btc-spot" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">led </a>Aug. 19 inflows with $143.6 million. Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund added $23.9 million. Cumulative net inflows into US spot <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/glossary/bitcoin-etf" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bitcoin ETFs </a>reached approximately $52.28 billion, with total net assets of roughly $79.3 billion. The inflow streak followed three consecutive sessions of net outflows between Aug. 12 and Aug. 14, during which the funds shed about $250 million.</p><h2 id="treasury-bond-buybacks-spark-6-bitcoin-rally-and-1-4b-in-short-liquidations">Treasury Bond Buybacks Spark 6% Bitcoin Rally and $1.4B in Short Liquidations</h2><p>BTC surged above $68,000 during US morning trading on Aug. 19 after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent <a href="https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0607" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">announced </a>the doubling of bond buyback operations for longer-dated government securities. Investors viewed the move as a potential backstop for liquidity across the $30 trillion Treasury market. About $1.4 billion in short positions were liquidated within four hours of the rally, as traders scrambled to close bearish positions. Gold also responded, jumping 2.7% to $4,528 an ounce, its highest level since early June.</p><img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/20c72cbdb22d4825a844ced251e9f4b5.png"><p>Ethereum (<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/" rel="noopener noreferrer">ETH</a>) and several altcoins outperformed BTC during the rally. ETH rose 8.44% to $2,084, its highest level since May 27. Solana (<a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/solana/" rel="noopener noreferrer">SOL</a>) gained 7% to $82. Open interest on ETH trading pairs spiked from $11.7 billion to $13 billion before settling back to $12.5 billion, reflecting a wave of leveraged long positions before short liquidations cleared. Spot <a href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/glossary/ethereum-etf" rel="noopener noreferrer">Ethereum ETFs</a> added $71.5 million on Aug. 19, lifting August net inflows for that product to approximately $345 million.</p>
