The upgrade follows its testnet launch on July 21 and is aimed at making better use of the network speed already gained from earlier upgrades.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2025/07/04/binance-smart-chain-surpasses-solana-ethereum-in-crucial-defi-metric/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BNB Chain previously moved</a> to 0.45-second block times through the Fermi upgrade, while Osaka/Mendel helped keep the network stable at that pace. Pasteur now focuses on carrying more transactions within the same time window while also fixing weaknesses linked to validator power and network security. Before the change, a validator could appear repeatedly in a crafted set and have its voting power counted several times. The new rule rejects such duplicates.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">BEP-695 deals with validator key changes. When a validator replaces an old consensus key, the previous key should no longer keep powers that belong to the new one. The proposal also makes sure slash evictions follow key rotations and blocks blacklisted addresses from using signature-based governance votes to bypass restrictions.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The biggest capacity change comes from BEP-675. Under the current process, builders execute transactions before validators execute them again. This uses valuable time inside the 450-millisecond block window.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">In QANet tests, the validator part of this process fell from 125 milliseconds to 15 milliseconds. Throughput increased from 1,237 TPS to 2,324 TPS, while average gas used rose from 46.35 million to 84.15 million out of the 100 million gas limit. These remain controlled testnet figures, rather than mainnet results.</p><h2 id="h-why-binance-cut-off-16-crypto-platforms" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Why Binance Cut Off 16 Crypto Platforms?</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2026/08/10/binance-bstocks-leads-tokenized-stocks-market-as-volume-surges-to-8-8b-billion/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Binance news</a> has also centered on the exchange cutting off transactions with a group of crypto platforms after new US and EU sanctions.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">As reported, Binance has already blocked Shelbit, Aban Tether, A7 Nigeria, A7 Africa and PilotFinance. OFAC sanctioned Shelbit and Aban Tether over Iran-linked flows, while the European Union included 14 non-EU platforms in its 21st Russia sanctions package.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Binance is following those regulatory measures rather than making an independent decision against the platforms. For users, transfers involving the affected platforms may face compliance reviews after the relevant dates. Wallets could also face restrictions during those reviews, while transactions may create issues under Binance terms.</p><h2 id="h-latest-binance-news-this-week" class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Latest Binance News This Week</strong></h2><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Beyond the Pasteur upgrade by BNB Chain and platform restrictions, Binance has also announced changes to its spot market and network support.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The exchange removed several spot trading pairs on August 14 following its regular review of listed markets. The affected pairs included APT/BTC, AR/BTC, A/USDC, BTTC/TRY, CYBER/USDC, LPT/BTC and WAL/FDUSD. Binance said such reviews consider factors including liquidity and trading volume.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">The exchange also carried out scheduled wallet maintenance for the Tron network on August 13. During the maintenance period, deposits and withdrawals were suspended before services resumed after the work was completed.</p><p class="wp-block-paragraph">Another Binance notice said deposits and withdrawals for certain tokens through selected networks will stop from August 21 at 08:00 UTC.
